Guest guest
HI there, I have had the same problem the past 3 months. I was banded on 1/04 and I have lost 130 lbs. I think our bodies have to play catch up. I have not gained any weight, so that is a plus, but it sure is frustrating not seeing the scale moving down. I have tried several things to combat this plateau. One was to add more exercise and different sorts of exercise. I was told to up my protein. They thought I was not eating enough protein. There is a plateau buster plan that our support group had a sheet on and I just received that and after the holiday I will attempt to try it for the 10 days and see if that jump starts the weightloss again. Good luck and let me know when the plateau breaks! Darice --- jillvargas <jillvarg@...> wrote: > Hello everyone - I'm glad I found a board with > activity on it. Guest guest
Darice, could you share the plateau buster. Sounds like it would be good information to have around! We all get heavier as we get older because, there's a lot more information in our heads. "

Guest guest
Thanks Darice. If the file was attached it was way at the bottom of all the stuff and I just didn't see it. I have a question about number 3. What protein suppliments are they talking about? I take vitamins but are they suggesting something specific? We all get heavier as we get older because, there's a lot more information in our heads. "

Guest guest
Welcome Kerry, Congrats on your decision to be banded. I was alos banded by teh excellent Dr. Kuri. My surgery was July 21, 2006, and in just a few days I will be having my miracle baby, that I wasn't supposed to be able to have. And, I am a good 40 years young! My husband was also banded by Dr. Kuri this past April. We credit him with enabling us to have our lives back and be able to conceive a child. I do not know Washington geography well at all, as I grew up in Michigan, so someone esle will have to address that. Do you go to Dr. Kuri's board? Welcome again. Guest guest
H Kerry and ... Kerry, I think I have seen you on the Dr. Kuri board.... my name is Kammi and I live up here in WA and my husband, my parents and I were all banded by Dr. Kuri at the end of this past May. We are all doing excellent... just got my 2nd fill yesterday and have major restriction... not enough to PB and slime, but sometimes uncomfortable... although this evening I was finally able to get down some refried beans.... but the perfect portion.... was eating tons before, even after my first fill. I am down 37 pounds since May 27th and my husband is down about 22ish.... I lost 8 pounds on the liver shrinking diet prior to surgery though. I feel great, off of meds for diabetes and am predicting a huge decrease in thyroid meds as my TSH levels were very low when tested this week. You have many things to look forward to with banding... it's not all easy or fun, but with a good attitude and awareness of what you eat and how you eat.... you will do great! I just turned 37 the day after surgery and am hoping to have another baby (I have a 5-1/2 year old daughter now) once I get some more weight off.... congrats ! I don't really talk on the Dr. Kuri board any longer as I have some different philosophies about health and nutrition and I get sick of trying to defend myself... so I found other support areas... if you ever need an ear... I will listen! Guest guest
Kerry Fantastic post about your journey and I whole heartedly second the getting to the gym advise. It makes such a difference in how your body looks after you loose and I found it easier to stay on track on eating while working out. I didn't want to blow what I just worked off. I had a lower body lift, medial [inner] thigh lift, tummy tuck, belt lipectomy and lipo of inner knees, outer thighs, lower abs and pubic area in December. I love the results. I went to Dr. Marshall Pardington in Redmond, Wa. I have seen and heard others say that he does some of the best looking boobs around. I am done with PS as I am satisfied with the rest of my body. I, also, consulted with Dr. Gavin Dry in Kirkland and would have been very happy with him. It was just down to a final choice and I am very happy with mine. Happy hunting. If you need a terrific fill call Fitzpatrick just outside of Portland 503-253-6589. I was banded by Dr. Kuri also January 2006. I was 300 lbs and now weigh 184. I take no medication at all for anything. I am working with a trainer are my gym and a nutritionist( same guy). I have actually had to loosen my band to loose the last 15 lbs. That is another subject all together. I run and bike. I ran a 7 mile race and was in the top 3rd for my age (45). I am smaller than I was is highschool and it is terrific. Just know that it is not always easy but oh so worth it. If I can give you one piece of " free advice " ....go to a gym and start working out right now. Get a trainer if you have too (I had no clue what I was doing). It will really help with the loose skin. If anyone knows of a good plastic surg. in the greater seattle area I am all ears...I live in Olympia. Good luck Kerry!!! Kellie " In the end we will conserved only what we love. Guest guest
Thanks for the referals in both US and Mexico. I will look at them all. I really don't have the money to spend, but I have worked so hard that I need it. I have used a personal trainer since Feb. and would spend the money again. This really has been a terrific journey. I am loving being toned and fit!!! I am thinner than I was in highschool....amazing!!!!! Thanks for the support!!! Iwould love to hear from anyone that has had PS and the ups and downs. How long was the recovery and the nitty gritty!! Keep up the good fight fellow bandsters it is so worth it! Kellie " In the end we will conserved only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we have been taught. " Baba Diom RE: Re: I'm new to this board Hi Kellie, Congratulations on your success. I know how it feels. I was banded by Dr Clinch of Kirkland in Oct 2006. After loosing the lbs that I need I went to Dr Quiros in Mexico for the tummy tuck, belt lipectomy, lipo of inner & outer thighs, lipo of the back and boob job for a 1/3 of the price here. I went to both Dr Marshal Parthington and Dr Dry they are both seems to be good doctors and heard great things about them. I just can't pay that much money (I'm sure it is the malpractice insurance that they pay here in the US - gosh to think of it on any PS that we do, we almost sign our lives away before the procedure - so what is the point of this insurance). Anyway, I'm very happy with my result. Millicent
