Guest guest
These are all really great suggestions, and I am keeping a list, and gonna try to do a lot of what people are requesting, I can tell you all though that we wont be having alive band, if anyone knows of some free live entertainment, that would be fun, I would like to hear some suggestions and some contact information on that as well. Maybe someone has an uncle vinny that plays the accordion, or a cousin myrna that can armpit fart the starspangled banner????? (hey its all entertaining!) All suggestions and input would be greatly appreciated. Did everyone like the seat and greet at barnabys the nite before the bash? Do you think we need to somehow go around and introduce everyone again like we did that nite, but maybe at one of the main events? I think it is empowering for people to tell there weight loss, and who was their surgeon, any input on that? Dances at harvest bash I'd like there to be dancing or a dance at the next Seattle area bash. If it's around halloween then make it open costuming, ie Halloween or formal with halloween overtones. I may fantasize about owning my own tuxedo on Smartbandsters but I haven't done it yet, me wearing a 3 piece suit from 25YA is almost halloweenish too. I suppose some might say why bother with formal weare if some aren't? That's a legitmate point but why not...them that want to can, them that don't, wont. In those far off days of my youth (yes there were iron bird and wheels then too!- I'm not quite that old! LOL), people danced primarily to live music at dances. I haven't danced to live music for 3 years and that was at a BBW gathering at Tulalip Casino. I don't know what live music costs, I don't know what a DJ with sound system costs either. At least with a DJ, you can have some hope of specifying what kind of music you want to hear and dance to. I suppose one risk of DJs is getting the kind of arrogant " artiste " that knows better than you what you should really want to hear, the kind that gets " artistic " by cutting songs short or playing a record back and forth (not my favorite style.) I don't really expect to hear nor attempt to dance to any Slayer or Metallica nor the the 20's country-western and mountain music I also like. Much less classical. I do find it a bit annoying to go to a dance where the dj plays a compilation of 60s and 70s stuff rather than say complete Creedance Clearwater songs but evidentally others aren't itked by it. Music tastes do vary, be nice to have something for everybody. Another option might be too try to have a more intimate private sortathing, like a room with a decent stereo (boombox-unless that's really an oxymoronic concept) and people bringing CDs, cassettes etc. Then that want to dance can dance, them that want to hang out can hang out, them that want different can go different. Guest guest
I would also like to see more information on name badges (only for those that are willing), like your email name, # of pounds lost, your doctor, your " saying " that some of us put at the bottom of the emails. I realize now I saw some people at bash that I had been corresponding with and I didn't know who they were. Had I known, I would have made more of an effort to approach them. I'll even offer to make um! Sue Yakima Dr. Oh 9/9/03 280/244/until my thighs don't rub!
Guest guest
Sue that is an excellent idea, will you please just plan on doing that then? Are you going to preprint something on sticky things or something like that? That is an excellent idea! It would be fun to put the email address on them too like you say because there are so many people that don't get recognized only by there email, most excellent idea you have! Will you really make those for us? Guest guest
It would be my pleasure! If the info that attendees want on their name band could be requested at the time of registration, it could be emailed to me and I'll print them out. I'll do the type that are like labels. They'll look marvelous. I promise! If everyone steps up to do just a little part, we can really help take the pressure off of the handful of people who work their butts off. They deserve to coast at the bash! Kisses all! Sue Yakima
