Guest guest
Earl, I was reading Dr. Klapper's section on Nutritional strategies for inflamed joints and he recommends taking two to three tablespoons of flax oil..... so now I am confused.....Please reply
Guest guest
: Painful joints appear to be caused by helicobacter. Flax oil by causing free radical production may have taken out the helicobacter, hopefully. Earl flax oil Personally I have found that flax oil seems to " loosen up " my joints. It's almost as if I had poured the oil directly on the squeaky parts. C. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Adreas, Flax is the plant from which linen is woven. The oil is from the seed. Here it is sold in health food stores. I imagine you can find it online. Hope that helps. Adrienne
Guest guest
Thanks Dani- I have been reading the flax oil messages ( because I have been so curious about finding out peoples oppinions about it), but I had never heard of anyone mentioning the cereal and bread that contained it. I will buy the oil at the store and use it. In the cereal and bread it tastes fine, so hopefully I won't have a problem with the oil. We will see! I have been eating more salmon, so that should help too!. Sorry for the repetition, I know that there is a flax discussion about 2x a week! anu > > I have decided to add flax to my diet. Guest guest
Anu, Flax oil is one of my favorite subjects. I like the taste of the oil; I think it tastes nutty, but even if you don't like it, you should be able to take it in shakes or with your cottage cheese. I've never tried flax seeds, but I've heard they're also beneficial and contain fiber to boot. Dani > > > I have decided to add flax to my diet. Guest guest
Flax oil is a " good fat " and will keep your skin from getting flaky and looking like exczema(sp?) and your hair from getting dry. The BFL way of eating is fairly lowfat and you have to replace it with the good stuff. You can do the capsules though reportedly the real oil is better. I can't do the oil either, makes me gag. Another thing you can do is swirl some natural(not Jif or Skippy, the natural with the oil on top--stir it first)peanut butter into your protein shakes or your oatmeal. That is also a good fat. CLA works too. Just read the labels. Don't overdo the peanut butter. Hope this helps. Stasia

Guest guest
The one I got wasn't in the fridge either, it was on the shelf. The bottle just said refrigerate after opening so I'm sure yours is ok. Stasia
Guest guest
I just read about not taking Flax oil myself and wondered the same thing. My doctor recently diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and told me to talk flax. I just asked for another Lyme test and it came back postive and also have scattered lesions on my brain from the MRI results. I'd better stop taking it until I know for sure.......I'm curious to hear why Lyme people shouldn't take it also..... Dejavu

Guest guest
when i was out of town and couldnt make my shake every morning (horrible! i feel like i cants start my morning without my shake, it's totally replaced my coffee ritual), i was carrying around a bottle of flax oil in my little cooler and i'd just shake a tablespoon on to a pile of spinach, add a bit of blue cheese and other saladystuffs and eat it. i developed quite a taste for it. it's very mild and nutty. (like me!) but, i'm boring and i really do just like to put mine in the blender every morning. -cera www.strangestlittlemonster.com www.seemescreaming.com dick_danielle wrote: >OKay, > I know that you can add flax oil to your shakes. Guest guest
I DETEST the taste of flax seed oil! However, I find that I don't get the gag reflex if I swallow it fast, then chew a Viactive (chocolate flavor)....and do not breath in until the Viactive is all chewed up. The things we do for health. > OKay, > I know that you can add flax oil to your shakes. What are other > things I can put this in to choke it down? Guest guest
I got mine at Walmart - they sell it in pill form, oil form and seed form. I take 1 Tblsp/day in a protein drink or shake. This is my first week on it. Flax Oil I think I'm ready to start taking flax oil. Are there many brick and morter stores that sell it or is it best to buy online? Is there something I should look for when I buy it or is it all pretty much the same? And finally, how much should I take a day? I am 160 lbs. Thanks, Sunshine )

Guest guest
Moonbeam said flax oil is good. Please see Johanna Budwig's work as to WHY flaxseed oil needs to be thoroughly mixed with yoghurt for best results. mjh [mjh: future posts with " >> " marks will be returned without comment.]

Guest guest
Just another brick in the wall... thought I would share the info from an alternative health care practioner. I asked his thoughts on Budwig and he said that subsequent studies have shown the flax is not the best choice for EFAs/omega 3s. That cod liver oil or a vegeterian based whole food supplement from a reputable company was a more complete oil, with better asorbtion/assimilation. He went on to say that the sulfur can be obtained from other food sources, taking it with like even a salad or baked potatoe. Just wanted to pass along what he said. Guest guest
No expert here, however I do not think the Budwig 'Flax Oil' protocol is simply for the EFAs or the Sulfa. It seems that the sulfated proteins in the cottage cheese are supposed to make the Flax Oil water soluble thereby making it more readily available to the body. Does it do that? Beats me, I'm no scientist. Joe C.
Guest guest
Hi Joe, This has been the subject of much discussion at the AdvancingBudwigProtocol group (). After much discussion (some actually scientific), I don't believe they've reached a consensus on why FO/CC mixed should be any better for anything than FO alone. Health cures aside, it is certainly nutritious, and I include FO/CC in my morning smoothie every day. Guest guest
Hello, On the Flaxoil and cottage cheese subject all I can say is this, My dog " Shilo " a Golden Retriever was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 1999 and was pronounced to me by the Vets at the University Of Minnesota that he would be dead in about two weeks. Well they were a little off on their prediction because Shilo is still alive and doing well and its May of 2005. The day that they announced his death sentence I stuck him on Flaxoil and cottage cheese and as God is my witness he was better immedietely . If your interested here is Shilo's webpage http://home.earthlink.net/~texas2step/ShilosTale.html He still gets his flaxoil and cottage cheese and he is a very healthy 10 year old dog. Thanks, Kirk Heckel
Guest guest
I don't have the recipe for making it at home but in my documentation the Breakstone brand is recommended. Perhaps someone else will have better knowledge, I've wondered about it for a long time and haven't seen anything at all in the forum regarding the brand. I have a book (can't remember which one right now) and in it, it said to use Breakstone. kbhawani2003 wrote: For those of you who have used Falx oil and cottage cheese - what brand of cottage cheese do you use?
