Guest guest
Oops, so sorry, I think that was for the HUGE smartbanster group. Sooo many emails I can't keep up! I will have time to respond to posts here tomorrow. Have a wonderful day all! agr8nthrngal@... wrote: In a message dated 8/23/2006 12:08:28 PM Eastern Standard Time, patandmarg@... writes: Most of my discomfort is in the center of my abdomen, like just above the belly button....is that gas or something else? like maybe stomach acid? I get nauseous too but am trying to get away from the constant gravol. I end up vomiting about once a week. I also tried to do just water yesterday to see if that would help, but it didn't. Like you Simon, I am finding I am avoiding food, just to avoid the discomfort and nausea. walking does not seem to help. Is there any harm in taking Gas X so consistently? I take the maximum daily dose and have since surgery. Marg and Simon, I have already written to you Simon, but Marg, since you both have similar things, I want to re iterate HOW important it is to seriously (and don't let doctor's poopoo this) consider gluten intolerance/Celiac and/or other food intolerances/allergies. PLEASE do some Internet research. After doing it, if you seem to be a possible candidate, join an online group. As you know, they can help brainstorm/tweak. THEN you can go to your doctor / a doc armed with info. It *can* be a matter of a simple blood test. However, they also do EGD (upper scope - harder with the band). I never had an EGD, but still got diagnosed. It changed my life. " Trauma " can cause this dormant auto immune issue to become active, which happened to me after severe abuse. For you, it may be the surgery that created it. For 14 years I *thought* I was lactose intolerant. Some days were better, some days were worse than others. Well, I *was* lactose intolerant...but it was much more than that. The villi in the small intestine that get our nutrients to our cells, see gluten (grain protein in wheat, rye, barley and usually oats) as an invader and attack it. Those same villi digest dairy, but at the tips of the villi. So, as the villi are worn down, lactose is one of the first signs of gluten intolerance (and often why people are misdiagnosed, as they catch it early). Also, " fat people " are often overlooked, as it is a disease of malnutrition. That thought is being proven wrong (many are either very thin or very fat). However, after a while, the intestines become more and more flattened and malnutrition comes into play. Trust me, I lived malnourished for a very long time (until I finally found an alternative doc to listen to me). It is completely invasive in all aspects of ones body and life. It is absolutely devastating. You are describing what could very well be this, but you need to do your Internet research and you may find that is *not* what it is, but please do not dismiss it. So many do. If all else fails...try a gluten free diet and *see* what happens. You may amaze yourself.
