I can remember people talking about cortisol before. What is it and where can I get some?

Hi everyone. I've intended to introduce myself for several days now, but I've been a bit under the weather, and I broke two toes. Not unusual for me. I break toes an average of three times a year. Anyway, my name is Becky, and I'm in Georgia. I was diagnosed last year with hypothyroidism and adrenaline insufficiency. It's the adrenaline thing for which I take cortisol - Brand name Cortef . It replaces the adrenaline that my glands no longer make. I, too, am struggling with the weight problem especially since my endo just lowered my dosage of Synthroid. But, I'm trying to hang in. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning from you.

Becky, where in Georgia are you?

About an hour northeast, near Lake Lanier. Close to Gainesville. Are you a fellow Georgian?

Hi Becky!

I'm Pam, I was diagnosed with hypo a year ago as well. I'm curious...what do you do to break your toes so often? :-)

I've done that once, and boy does it hurt!!!!!

that one time was enough for me! lol

Yes, I'm not too far from you, and my parents are in Flowery Branch, near Gainesville. The reason I asked is that my doctor is in Lawrenceville, Dr. Kunz, and although he's a GP, he has taken a special interest in thyroid problems. He treated me even though my tsh was "normal" when other doctors wouldn't. I KNEW I was hypo and he listened to me and took me seriously.

Hi Pam. Well, it's either clumsiness or I just don't pay attention. I'm always running into something.

It is a small world, huh? My general practitioner is in Flowery Branch. It's about a 10 mile drive for me. I have a very good endocrinologist. She's new and very smart. Or at least she appears to be. I was so happy when she came to town last fall. My previous endo could never answer my questions.

It's been a week, and I haven't broken another one so I'm doing pretty good. :o)
