Guest guest
Deb, I really think you need to call or e-mail Devin about this. You may need to back off on the dose; perhaps just reduce the Peptizyde by half. Some kids do have trouble with the Peptizyde. It's also possible that he is tolerating the enzymes, but having a withdrawal effect from other foods he is sensitive to or gluten that you weren't aware was in some of his food. You say he has been gfcf for one month. Did he go through a withdrawal stage with the diet? Did you remove only gluten and casein, or also soy, corn and phenols? Please keep us posted so we can help you and others. > I began gfcf on my 20 year old son about a month ago. Started > enzymes about two weeks ago. Guest guest
Deb, I thought the same thing as . Many parents say the withdrawal on just GFCF can be longer than a month, and adding the enzymes in too would really intensify any withdrawal that may be going on (because you are catching unknowns and soy). You could reduce the enzymes and see if it gets better. Please let us know how it goes. .
Guest guest
Aggression and sleeplessness can be signs of phenol intolerance. The enzymes did not help my son's phenol issues. So if you are feeding your son more highly phenolic foods now, that might be a cause. Here is my information on that. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/phenol.htm I tried enzymes for myself, I had a very nasty terrible withdrawal type reaction, different than what you describe for your son, but still nasty, so you might want to back off and use them for one meal per day, then move up to two meals, then three, over the course of several weeks. If you want to mail me offlist, I can discuss other things that might help your son that I will not discuss on a public list. I hope that helps. Guest guest
Deb, Which enzymes are you giving him and at what dose? I shouldn't have assumed it was Peptizyde. > I began gfcf on my 20 year old son about a month ago. Started > enzymes about two weeks ago. Guest guest
Staci, These are all concerns that many of us here have had to deal with as graduation day approaches. It sounds like you have seen some very good progress. Does the band still fit correctly? If it does and you are concerned about Adam's back sleeping then I think that wearing it at night might be a good idea. Does Adam spend most of his waking hours off of his head? If he does then it might be allright to let him be without it during the day. Your instincts will tell you what is right. If the band is still fitting correctly and you feel that there is more to be gained by wearing it then you may wish to continue. In regards to re-flattening I can tell you that a few moms have been dealing with what they feel is re-flattening after graduation. It seems to be a fairly uncommon thing and I haven't noticed any re-flattening with . She was, however, about 15 months when she finished and had been walking since she was 9 months old and sleeping every which way all over her bed for that long as well. I don't know if that made a difference or not. Good luck with your decision. I'm positive that you will do exactly what is right for your baby. Guest guest
Staci, We received 80-90% (in my guesstimation) correction for - his ears were way off and he did have very noticeable asymmetry when you looked in the mirror. Now its minor- I still see a little-but I'm really looking for it. His ears look symmetrical but every once in awhile I see they are slightly off. We're thrilled with the correction we did get. Good luck to you all! ' Mom
Guest guest
Hey Staci- although it is not common that reflattening occurs after graduation- there are some instances that we have read about. The big concern is that Adam still sleeps on his back and I think that wearing the helmet at night will help ensure that no reflattening occurs since that is where he spends all of his head time- for the most part. We haev all asked those same questions as graduation appraoches so you are defintely not alone. But if it makes you feel better and the helmet still fits and Adam doesnt mind wearing it then you may want to talk to your ortho and neuro about continuing with the band full time and maybe having another follow up in a month to reassess limited wear time. DO what your mommmy instincts tell you to do and you cant go wrong. Good luck and keep us posted. Congrats to Adam for making great progress! Guest guest
Staci: Ah, to graduate or not to graduate? A very tough decision for parents to make! Does the band still fit Adam, or is he out-growing it? If it still fits him comfortably, then you might still want to keep it on him full time if you are concerned about any remaining flatness or assymetries. You've come this far, you might as well go the duration! Or even if you just have him wear it while he sleeps. Abby didn't graduate until she was 15.5 mos old, so she hasn't reflattened at all since then (that was June). Re-flatteneing is more common in younger infants becuz their heads are still " softer " . It is pretty uncommon though. Good luck with your decison, let us know! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hi all, > I need some advice about " graduation " . Guest guest
Outside of doing a flush, when you are having an attack or just feeling very bad due to eating something to cause the discomfort, what is recommended to alleviate the pain and discomfort? I know that antacids, etc. are not recommended, so what do you use or do? Thanks for the advice.
Guest guest
Hi! In the past when I got gallbladder attacks, I used to drink a half of cup of apple juice with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. It worked really well. Right now, I am being treated with chinese herbs and can honestly say I am feeling great. The stones, I feel, are also dissolving. Take care, Original Message: ----------------- From: M czgirly@... Guest guest
: Is that just regular store bought apple juice and apple cider vinegar or is it from the health food store? I usually watch my diet to avoid this, but after eating something that I " miss " eating, the pain is a real kicker. I get the nausea feeling along with it. Let me know if store bought or health food & I will stop on my way home from work to get some. Thank you for the advice. >From: " perseusmagic@... Guest guest
Hi, again ) I get mine from Whole Foods ,however, a health food store would also be wonderful. Oh, I do know about the nausea! I always keep ginger handy and it also works really well. I have been fighting gall bladder surgery for five years and will keep doing so. I know in some cases it can't be avoided, but I am sure trying my hardest! Prior to going to my chinese herbalist, I went to this awesome apothecary where one of the naturopaths recommended chamomile, dandelion, turmeric and artichock extracts. I must say this also worked! Or, maybe it was my mind willing things to work out. Be well ) Original Message: ----------------- From: M C P czgirly@... Guest guest
Along the lines of Apple Cider Vinegar & such...I was told by a couple of alternative practitioners that the apple juice needs to be non-homogenized, which means freshly juiced and/or specifically non- homogenized (my understanding at least). This is supposed to increase the malic acid content from the apples and the acid helps break down stones. I am juicing granny smith apples (4) & lemons (1/3), plus a radish for good measure several times daily. It's early so I don't have any results, but I would love to hear other juice mixtures that have worked for folks. How many use the apple cider vinegar with any luck? What brands? Used for pain? Used to soften stones? Used to promote general GB health? What do you mix it with - honey - water - nothing? Sorry to bake so much into one post, but I got on a roll Steve
