Well Jen yes and no.I lost 85 pounds on a different drug.But this doc has me

on synthyroid and my weight is back on.Synthyroid is not all that.If your

active you can lose weight BUT I don't think so on synthyroid from personal

expericence.I have to go back to my Doc soon and giving him a choice: change

my drugs or I find another Doc.I alos have FMS and the added weight just

makes it worst.

I think you and your doc have to play around with diff meds and dosage to

find which one is right for you.

what drug where you on that helped lose weight....and is it safe to try a prescription weight loss drug with the thyroid meds...thanks

I took Meridia for about 10 days while on synthroid and ended up in

the hospital.

thanks bee...i was just curious what everyone has been sucessful with....now that i know what caused the weight gain and stop it...i want it off...lol

i have low blood pressure to start with...it is usually 80-90/60 something...it isn't low enough to be monitored but it is low

If I knew of a thyroid med to lose weight, I would be taking it.

ly I do not think that there is anything we can other than make

sure that the levels are in a good spot for us and that we exercise

and eat decently. When I was exercising my meds were way off and when

I got on a better med level, I lost motivation for exercise. I'm

currently working on getting that back. Pretty soon I will be moving

out of my parents house and that should help because I will be in

control of food and my fiance is really good about working out with

me.

With the Meridia, my bp went really high and I had to be monitored

most of the night because I was at risk for stroking at age 22. I was

given fluids, an ekg, monitored closely and had my blood tested to

make sure that my thyroid was ok and that I wasn't dehydrated (I drink

a lot of water and my thryoid was fine). After my blood pressure came

down, my fiance and his mom took me home instead of back to my dorm.

that high blood pressure was the worst feeling that I have ever had in

my life.

Oh and now even though I'm 340 lbs, my bp is only about 110/70.
