Guest guest
Lynn's post nudged me out of my lurker's corner for a minute. this reminds me of a tooth that I twice suspected had gone bad in some way, because it began hurting and mimicking symptoms of an abcessed tooth. I also had 2 trips to the dentist with xrays and nothing was seen. the pain faded away. I wish I could recall if I'd been taking iodine at the time (VERY possible)but these incidents were before the birth of this list. However, once on this list I went back on Lugol's and ended up with a doozy of a sinus problem, including aching of teeth at times. Stopped the Lugol's, teeth stopped aching. The other day I figured it was time to take some iodine again, 2 drops of Lugol's, 2 days in a row and WHAM, sinus congestion. Most noticeably, when I bend over " that " tooth aches a bit. I've *finally* realized that the " toothache " has got to be some stuck congestion in the sinus passage on top of the tooth. I suspect that IF I could wait it out, the iodine might clear the congestion. But I ended up feeling so sick (as with typical sinus infection) that I backed off, determined to use the iodine more gradually. This whole problem is weird to me, because to my knowledge, iodine is supposed to THIN mucous, but I seem to get the opposite result. Having written that sentence, I realize I've had it both ways-------sinus congestion AND a runny nose! I'm planning on switching to Atomidine just to see if I get different results-------sinuses I can live with, for example. If you use iodine on the skin near the area you may find the outer manifestation of the problem there and slowly draw it out through the skin. Never have > cavities anymore and teeth look great. > > Lynn > Hi Lynn, When I stopped taking Iodoral I had a serious problem with my teeth. Went to the dentist and after xray was told I needed to have a root removed under a permanent bridge which would have required a surgical procedure. I was about to go away for a few days and asked for antibiotic and pain meds to address it until I returned. After the course of antibiotic the pain went away and never returned. At the time, I did not connect the tooth problem with Idororal but now I do. Six months later and no surgical procedure and no problem with my teeth at all. To think I might have submitted to a surgical procedure when it was only a reaction to withdrawing from the high level of iodine in my system. This and other significant symptoms I experienced when *stopping* iodine lead me to have a very cautious view of iodine. While I was taking it I felt great, but towards the end I had a strong sense to stop taking it and did. What followed was scarry (I have posted on this previously). I read lots about health issues and see a doctor regularly but final decisions about my body are mine and I trust my senses. Now, I know people may think the connection I see between stopping Iodoral and the tooth and other problems are simply coincidences and unrelated. I do not believe in coindcidence. Guest guest
I find this all quite interesting because I have Hashi's (which I apparently have had for quite a while) and not knowing this last September I started taking 50 mgs. Iodoral daily. I haven't had one single negative effect until I cut back a couple weeks ago to 2-3 per day, when I started breaking out. I went back up to 50 mgs. and the breaking out is almost gone. I don't know what to make of it, but since I don't have any negative effects unless I cut back, then my body must need it, so will continue. C.
