Guest guest
Just saw that on the news a bit ago. Well, duuuhhhh....we know that sugar is a factor in weight gain, and that's a factor in diabetes (as sugar is no matter what the weight)....so gee, sugary drinks could be a factor the same as ice cream or cake... Duuuhhhh..... No, not complaining about the posting of it....we can all use reminders....just am continually amazed about the things that get published as research sometimes.... dan Tuesday, August 24, 2004, 7:03:52 PM, you wrote: S> Sugary Soft Drinks Raise Risk of Diabetes -Study S> Tue Aug 24, 4:10 PM ET Add Health - Reuters to My S> Dan Lester, Boise, ID honu@... www.mylapband.tk Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana, 4/28/03 323/209/199 Age
Guest guest
It is a little more complex than just sugar, Dan. The sodas caused a spike in blood sugar and insulin levels disporportionate to the sugar calories. Even one soda a day (240 cal or so)increased the risk of Diabetes, and a similar increase was NOT seen with fruit juice intake, which has more calories, but of a different type. The full study in the medical journal shows this clearer than just simply the news report of it. Much the same as those who inject their drugs instead of taking them in some other form. They get into the system sooner since they're already in a form that the body is ready to use. I have a daughter that is a meth addict....and she injects because the pills she's prescribed for narcolepsy take to long to get her up. She also smokes it for same reason. NOTE: I'm NOT in any way comparing the two drugs...sugar and meth...and am most unhappy about my adult daughter, who lives in another state. I just pray she'll get her life together, but am not hopeful. I am continually amazed at the grant money that is spent for things that seem so obvious. But I guess unless someone actually proves the premise, it is just that...only a premise. But it does seem like such a waste of money and study time when there are so many more serious factors to be proved/disproved, doesn't it?
