Guest guest
Sadie- I was referred to my endocrinologist because when I had my first gall bladder attack because my triglycerides went off the scale. I am slightly hyperthyroid (Grave's disease) and have been seeing her for a few years. My primary doesn't think my gall bladder attack was caused by my gall bladder because my ultrasound only showed 1 6mm polyp and no gallstones. I had pain that radiated from my lower right rib cage to my back. I was in so much pain for ~2.5 days. I didn't have any nausea or vomiting though or temperature. I went to her after the first 0.5 day and she tested my liver and cbc. My white blood count was almost double what it normally is. Also I had lipemia (excessive fat in the blood). She got me in for an ultrasound on day 1.5 because she was afraid I had a gall bladder infection. She also had another cbc and cholesterol test done. My white blood count was higher even on day 1.5 and my triglycerides were off the chart (7x the high). My ultrasound showed only a small polyp though. Day 2.5 - no pain, did a cbc and my white blood count plummetted back to normal. She also tested my pancreas to see if I had pancreatitis. The primary thought the cholesterol was unrelated to the gall bladder since she didn't think it was the gall bladder. Anyway, she referred me to the endo to see if some metabolic disorder is causing the high cholesterol. When I talked the endo, she said they have evidence that even a crystalline storm in the gall bladder can cause attacks. She theorizes that is what caused it....and she felt my high cholesterol was caused by my gall bladder irritating my pancreas. I have ate low fat for the last 4 weeks and had my cholesterol tested today to see if it's back to normal. Sooo....I guess endo's don't really treat gall bladder issues but she seemed to know or understand more than my primary did. I don't know if I'm ready to do a liver flush but I'll let you know what my newest cholesterol test says.
