I've not smoked any of that stuff in over twenty years, but I can comment on the munchies, as imagine most of us can. It sure didn't take getting stoned or drunk for me to get the munchies. I still get them sometimes, often for reasons I can identify, sometimes for ones I can't. What's the difference now? I can't eat much. And some stuff that I'd munch on gets stuck. I've gotten stuck on bread products, chips, pizza, nuts, and so forth. Fortunately for me ice cream is not something I get the munchies for, though even that self limits to some extent for me, as cold things tighten up my band a lot. So you'll find a whole different world. And hopefully as you lose you won't have as much need for your herbal drug (not judging that drug, just expecting you'll have less pain and less need for any drugs). It should be an interesting experience. dan Dan Lester, Boise, ID honu@... www.gailndan.com/lapband Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana, 4/28/03 323/228/
Guest guest
Dan- since you haven't smoked it in 20 years, why are you answering his questions? I saw this post last night and was very curious myself to see who would answer, cause they will sure get invited to my private party at bash-not you Dan, unless you want to break that 20 year drought. Let me be the first to freely admit that I have smoked plenty of dope since getting banded, it has no calories, I drink lots of water when I do it, drinking time is not eating time, so if I get the munchies I just smoke another bowl and drink more water. It is nobodys business how much or how often, and neither will I be scoring for anyone. I did try to email Stan about this privately, but he did't respond, so I am hesitantly outing myself here, because I want to know the answers. I think you should be honest with your surgeon about it, maybe she will put in a couple of extra stitches. Avoid coughing by taking smaller more frequent hits and drinking. So, if anyone has factual information, I am sure there are more inquiring minds that want to know...... Guest guest
rite on jan, i appreciate your response, and i look forward to meeting you...you covered some topics i didnt...no calories unlike alcohol...ok maybe i smoke for other reasons...but that really doesnt matter, the fact remains it is the safest of all the intoxicants...worse case scenario you attack a box of twinkies, unlike alcohol where you might get angry enough to attack and hurt a loved one...im not that way but we all know people who are...i'll get my email later tonite...thanks again > > > > t> im also wondering how the " munchies " affects bandsters and any > other > > t> relevant info related to this subject... > > > > I've not smoked any of that stuff in over twenty years, but I can > > comment on the munchies, as imagine most of us can. Guest guest
I wonder how many of us bandsters, having had the courage to undergo optional surgery, now find themselves wondering about blind obedience to society's laws? While I haven't violated any yet, I now look to see if they really make sense or just serve to make money for an elite group or just respect some other group's desires. Ie anti marijuana laws serve to increse profits of the liquor and brewing interests (I won't even go into hemp for paper and clothing!). Personally I feel a law is rather specious if the only real reason for obeying it is that if you don't and get caught and prosecuted/convicted then being in prison is likely to be bad for your health. I remember some public figure stating that back in the 60s regarding health risks of pot. Larry Murray

Guest guest
Boy, I get sick for a few days and all hell breaks loose! If anyone can answer Stan's question about how pot smoking has affected their band journey, it might be prudent to post it to him privately. Stan can pass on the info. to the list without all the pot smokers having to out themselves, and without the rest of us feeling uncomfortable about being surrounded by a bunch of damn off-topic hippies. :-) I do agree that folks should have all the facts about the effects of various types of smoke on healing after surgery. It would be nice if we could have some idea of what, if any, additional risks there are for pot-smoking bandsters... but other than the same risks assumed by all smokers of wacky tabacky (black lungs, anybody?), it seems additional info will be a long time coming since so much of this band stuff is new and unhcharted territory. I personally hate the green stuff (it stinks!), but what people smoke or don't smoke isn't any of my business. And chances are good that folks who smoke weed know why their doctors would say they shouldn't, and choose to anyway. Their prerogative. As for medical people smoking weed in their spare time... well, let's just say I'm a bit more concerned about the pilots who stop off by the bar on their way to work! Guest guest
-Well since this is confession time. Pot, Pringles and Alcohol. Finally got my fill yestereday. Had run out of most of my execuses. Today I was determined to be good .Had my coffee with milk(well it was cream) and bought a hard boil egg with me to a council meeting I needed to go to. I don't know why I bought the big bag of buttered popcorn -other than the butter whould help the egg go down. Now I know there is something wrong with this picture. Dah! Just need to see the visuals earlier. Think I need a tighter fill and a bandaid across my mouth. joanne -- In , " Sarina Mc " <sarinamcdonald@m...> wrote: > Boy, I get sick for a few days and all hell breaks loose! > > If anyone can answer Stan's question about how pot smoking has affected > their band journey, it might be prudent to post it to him privately.
