Hi,My daughter and her friend are always much hotter than other people. They did the iodine patch test which lasted 8-12 hours. My daughter has had her thyroid tested and was a little low. How come her temperature is high? Would she benefit from iodine supplementation do you think?Toni

Toni,

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid a few years ago. Looking back over my own childhood I recall that my temperature often read low, rather than high. My mother told me that it was just "the way some people are." Had I known then what I know now!

I'm not sure about a giant dose of iodine, others on this list might know better about that, but it certainly can't hurt given what I've been learning about how little iodine is actually in the foods we eat anyway.

Kudos to you for being so alert, BTW. A lot of parents don't bother to listen for new information and raise their kids (nutritionally speaking) "the way they were raised."

Oh, before I forget, there are two scales for measuring thyroid imbalances. The more recent one allows less deviation than the older one. You might find out which scale was being used to measure your daughter. If it's the newer one, it may not be much to really be concerned over.
