Re: iodine and bladder infections??

I posted before that I got a bladder infection and kidney pain when

taking Iodoral. My son's girlfriend started taking Iodoral because my

son had good luck with it and she was so cold all the time with hair

falling out big time and she had read extensively about iodine

supplementation!

Almost immediately upon starting 1 1/2 Iodorals she got a bladder

infection. I suggested to her to cut back and take 1/2 Iodoral/day.

She went on a round of antibiotics to get rid of the infections. So I

just heard (she (25 yr old) and my son are traveling in Europe) that

she got another bladder infection 2 weeks later and her kidneys are

hurting too! Just like I had experienced.

So my question to her is where was she at in her cycle and how much

Iodoral is she taking now - have not heard back yet. She may well

have PCOS and has had ovarian cysts before.

But this really got me thinking about Iodoral and women who are prone

to bladder infections. Older women tend to get more bladder

infections due to low estrogen. When I started on BHRT my doctor told

me that my yearly bladder infections would probably go away. They did

for a year until I started Iodoral. Hmmm???

So my question here is, has anyone else experienced bladder infections

while on Iodoral? I am inclined to think that iodine supplementation

may work better for men than women, esp if women are low on estrogen.

Just theorizing here, because I cannot find any research that

addresses this issue. When I have asked the experts they say that

iodine " balances estrogen " . When asked how they know that I do not

really get a straight answer. claims that iodine

turns estrogen into the weaker estriol (he says he has tested it)

which does not necessarily do much for menopausal women, barely may

get rid of hot flashes. When I do Iodoral supplementation the G-spot

gets wrinkled which means the bladder is drying up in my book. (Hope I

am not being too graphic here>>>)

Anyone else have any ideas here? I think I will stay away from

Iodoral and just paint 3 drops of Iosol on my one and only breast.

------> Yes I'm getting the feeling that could be true. Too bad

symbollon isn't blood testing for estradiol on the women in it's

study. I would love to see what happens.

I'm showing signs of low estrogen right now with a return of mild hot

flashes and night sweats. I'm ordering a estradiol test so we'll see.

What I don't get is why this didn't happen when I was taking iodoral.

I'm on way less iodine now (2 drops of lugols) then when I was on

iodoral 2-3 /day)
