Hi ,

Why did you have your band removed? If I can be so bold to ask...

Oh my band my lovely band.... from three weeks out it has been a

problem for me, the tubing disconencted and the port flipped, then 6

months out the band slipped and the port flipped... they removed the

fill, filled it 4 months later, it slipped again, they fixed it

surgerically.. It was fine for a while then it slipped again and

they defilled it, slipped back into place and stayed there with no

fill for over a year... the pesky port flipped again, strange but

true my plastic surgeon fixed the port again when I had a Tummy

tuck...(almost two year mark by now) he works with band docs so he

knows how it works and is installed. Then with no fill my band

slipped after a year of being fine up around my espohagus(2.5 year

mark)... so it had to come out, not my choice.. I was very lucky I

managed to lose pretty much all my weight (160lbs) fill-less.

My band doc wanted me to go bandless for somewhere between 3-6

months, my weight is ok I have gained some back, I can still fit in

all my clothes at 5 months out, the pants are slightly tighter

though...

I knew from the time I was told it had to come out, I would have a

band back in and as soon as possible, it is a matter of portion

control for me... I am freaked out by the volume of what I can

eat... and I live daily with my worst trigger stress and right now

mass volumes of stress are in my life and hormones are the other

trigger so this last two months has been really bad for me and I am

succumbing to the stress hence the reason I have tighter pants....

my fault no one elses.

So now I have a choice of the band that goes back and I want to make

sure I know what I am choosing and have reasons why. When the

Innamed band was installed it was the only choice available in

Canada now all of them are.

I have experienced just about every complication other than

erosion... and I really don't need that one.

and that is the shortest version of my sordid tale I can tell.

Oh , that sounds painful! I hope your scarring isn't very bad. Do

they have to cut you open every time they fixed it?

They do... I have a roadmap on my stomach... but my tummy tuck will

giving me a whole new set of scars also eliminated some of the

existing ones in the skin they removed... my port scar is not beside

my belly button, so I assume with this new surgery I will have a new

set of five to add to my collection
