Guest guest
Phyllis, You have to go back to the date of the food plan you want. They are all May 2004, and you'll need to change the date at the top of the page to May 2004, then click on the day's " apple " to see that food plan. I know this is a pain since it is so far back, so i'll try to cut and paste into a separate document in the next few days to make it easaier to access. Most people can eat salads if they chew very well, but the lettuce is really useless nutrition. Eat the meat and cheese first, then the egg, then the other stuff if there is any room, so you're filling up on good protein first. It's rerally a waste of the lettuce - A cup of lettuce has like 5 calories and no real nutriton - so salads alone are a poor band choice. This is another of the other " diet myths " that we need to UN-learn - that salads are good diet food! We need good nutrition, not as few calories as we can manage. Guest guest
Sandy: I LOVE salads - but do not eat them with lettuce - I eat them with spinach, broccoli slaw mix, cabbage, carrots, meat, nuts, boiled eggs, little cheeses etc. Sometimes purple lettuce and romaine. I use the dressing as a DIP, and literally pick up several pieces and dip it is the dressing, rather than slop it in and soak it in the veggies. I see this as a good source of vegetables, and do not like cooked veggies, unless they are wokked. Also a good source of vitamins and fiber. O.K.?? I will be in Portland Nov 10-20th or so. Any groups going? Or at least I can tour your program? Am healing well from my surgery - and have 3.5 left in my band. When in Mexico I had 6ccs in. My stomach is too swollen to get more that that in now. I have good restriction, but my greatest joy is go build up my exercise. that's where I get most of my weight off. Lung capacity is fine. Guest guest
Sandy, I read your food plan for a few days. No wonder I'm not losing weight ....... I am able to eat much more than that. I keep hearing Dan say... " It's not how much you can eat, but how much you SHOULD eat! " At my age (65) you would think I could figure this out after a lifetime of dieting on one thing or another. Those old habits are instilled in my brain and need to be revamped!! My surgery was March 29th and so far I've only lost 30 lbs. ......... I need to " fine tune " my choices and keep hearing Dan going thru my brain! Thanks to you two! Phyllis
Guest guest
Phyllis, 1200-1500 cal a day is a good goal for most women - perhaps more if you are quite heavy starting out, or still. . If you're not satisfied with this amount, you likely need another fill - assuming you are eating good band foods most of the time. NONE of us has any prior expereince with banding, so it's hard to " figure stuff out " , as you say - banding is a whiole new world with new rules and guideleines to do well! don't hesitate to ask for help - both Dan and I learned from othere wise people before us. We're all in this battle together. 30# since March is just fine (7 mo) - just about the 1-2# a week that is average. And if you have done this without a great fill? - wow, you've done excellent!! - sandy r > > Sandy, > I read your food plan for a few days. No wonder I'm not losing weight ...... " Hey, I've only learned that by experience, and I still mess it up fairly often. I've not had anything stuck in a couple weeks, though. I'm about your age and am not so smart either. If it was so easy you wouldn't need a band. Nor would any of us. P> My surgery was March 29th and so far I've only lost 30 lbs. ......... It is NOT a contest. Some lose faster, some slower. Younger generally lose faster. Men generally lose faster. Those who exercise more will lose faster. Hang in there....you're doing great. dan Dan Lester, Boise, ID honu@... www.mylapband.tk Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana, 4/28/03 323/209/199 Age 62 Fair is whatever God decides to do. Guest guest
Hey Sandy r - do you have any sample food/meal plans? I love regimentation but I often don't have confidence that I'm choosing and planning right. The most weight I ever lost was on structured plans like weight watchers and jenny craig where they tell you what to eat.
