If your adrenals are low, it could be turning into cortisol, which would help with rapid heart rate for example. If you are a person with a lot of adrenaline, you need cortisol to calm down the heart rate. Ray Peat, a biochemist claims you only need to take it about once a week. I don't remember the dosage he recommended, but claimed this actually helped you produce more. Guest guest
Hi Skipper, The effect of the pregnenolone seems to be wearing off. I don't get as much relief when I take it. The only other thing that helps is sea salt in water, which I think would add to your adrenal theory. But my temp has been pretty stable, which suggests the adrenals are not the problem. I'm not at all sure at this point. Thanks much, Sharon > Maybe. I'm not at all sure at this point. It suggests but isn't definitive. Have you ever had your AM cortisol level taken? Guest guest
Thanks Skipper, > It suggests but isn't definitive. Yes... > Have you ever had your AM cortisol level taken? In July O4, my AM cortisol was .76 (range .27 - 2.06). As I remember, I had taken adrenal glandulars for a few months before this and probably had stopped before this test. My doc interpreted that (and the other data points which were all in the mid-low end of the range) as not optimal. He didn't like the imprecision of adrenal glandulars and put me on 10mg Cortef. Then the next doc didn't like Cortef (for me I think, not necessarily for everyone) and weaned me off that and back on adrenal glandulars. Which I am still on. I have to say the problems I am having are very similar to when my adrenals were in terrible shape but without other things like terrible mood swings, crying all the time, temperature problems, etc. My adrenals blew out in 2000. Does that tell you anything? Sharon

Yes. It tells me that just like iodine, many doctors are also afraid of Armour Thyroid and Hydrocortisone. Some people can cure their adrenal problems nutritionally, and adrenal glandulars are for those people. I guess those people must have a fully functional HPA axis, and not have problems with their adrenals due to weakening by toxins,r illness. , or low thyroid. The treatment that Jeffries described in " Safe Uses of Cortisol " , 5 mg of HC 4 times per day is the right solution for many people with low adrenals. Did you feel better on Cortef? That is really what matters. Guest guest
On Page 36 of " Safe Uses of Cortisol " McK. Jeffries recommends cortisol taken as 7.5, 5.0 or 2.5 mg four times per day. On Page 41 he states " Most patients can be maintained on between 20 and 30 mg daily in divided doses. " He goes on to say that some people feel well on less he usually recommends at least 20mg. But later he has at least 1 patient tad did optimally on 10mg/day, Irene At 08:15 AM 9/7/2006, you wrote: >From: " sharflin " <sharflin@...> >He didn't like the imprecision of adrenal glandulars >and put me on 10mg Cortef.
