Guest guest
, Medically it isn't necessary to weigh every day, but psycologically it can be. I will not weigh the same day each week, and its too easy to get discouraged when I don't weigh every day. I see the ups and downs (and there are more downs than ups) it encourages me and makes me realize when I've made smart choices. I'm always afraid that if I weighed once a week I'd pick the wrong day and get discouraged for the week. LOL It's definately a personal preference. With some people weekly weighing works best, but for others daily weighing is fine and even best. Chris 8-25-
Guest guest
I agree. I weigh daily..keeps me on track. It's my first reminder in the morning of what I'm doing and why. Guest guest
I used weigh everyday, and it doesn't freak me out... my weight can flucuate up to 5-7 lbs in a day depending on water retention etc. I weighed everyday throughout my band journey, for me it was exciting to see the numbers, I never berated myself when they went up, but I was delighted when they went down, it was a personal choice. I have several friends who are the same way, they step on their scale every morning. The batteries died in my scale about the same time my lapband came out due to complications and I haven't weighed in since then, now i am slightly afraid of how much I have gained... not a ton I know that but enough that my clothes are tighter. For me weighing everyday is just a habit I got into and it let me know how I was doing. Then again I was fortunate I never plateaued for months on end, and I never really went up more than 10 lbs and that was during my period. Now my band is going back in and I will be back on my scale every morning.... unless I am in the hotel for work. Scales don't have to be evil, as long as that number is just that a number. How I feel is much more important than the number but I still love stepping on it and seeing 145 or so. heather > > Hi > > > > For those of us who need to weigh daily
Guest guest
I am kind of in the middle. If I am on a plateau, or if I haven't made the best choices for a day or 2, I stay off the scale. I can pretty much 'feel it' in my body when I am losing, and I get on the scale every morning. It is a boost to see the numbers, even more so since I have gotten under 200. I love to get on the scale. It doesn't bother me if I am up 2 or 3 lbs, actually it helps me to know it, and I make better choices that day. But I only record my weight once a week. Whatever works! I think that varies greatly by individual. Guest guest
Medical research is actually backing up daily weighing too, from what I understand. It's long been most Drs. beliefs that daily weighing was discouraging. They are coming around slowly. Remember how many Drs. said to put cocoa butter on our stomachs when pregnant to prevent stretch marks??? They, like everyone else, finally learn. To each their own, but for me if I don't weigh daily I start sailing down the " river of D-Nile " . chris 8-25-04 235-222-
Guest guest
I weigh every day. There is not a medical reason, I'm just curious. I do not get shook up with fluctuations in the scale, I know they will happen. In fact, they motivate me further. It keeps me focused on what I'm doing, and I'm EXCITED every day that I wake up, with the thought that I'm losing weight! In my pre-banded days, I ate with abandon and put the scale in the garage. Out of sight, out of mind! I know many don't agree with me, but that's my routine...get up, go to the bathroom, put on my tea kettle and get on the scale. Guest guest
Great post! I guess what is important is how the scale makes us FEEL if we weight daily - whether it empowers us and keeps us focused on doing well or defeats and depresses us if we're up a bit. Excellent reminder that we all have to do what works for us ! Sandy R > > I'm a daily weigher. Not so much to see what I weigh (I know that > sounds odd), but for accountability. Guest guest
This is great, kind of like being at a " WA " meeting....Weighaholics Anonymous. I'm so glad to know that others are dealing with and conquering this same problem. I'm in agreement with you all. Those of us who are affected negatively by weighing daily should not do it. Those of you who can handle it and like the accountability should do it. I think I'm somewhere in the middle, though. Wierd, I know, but I dont think I'll feel " sober " until I can finally weigh once a week. Thanks for sharing. > > > > > > I'm a daily weigher.
