Guest guest
That is great news Lilian, so pleased that you have not had an uphill climb to recover from your trial - I am now being given just 1.5 grains per day instead of the 3 that they have been giving me (purchased 1/2 grain myself) and the PCT are refusing to allow me to go outside of the area to find a dr who has knowledge of treating with armour - I am going to fight and just thank God that I have the energy to do this but it could not have come at a worse time because I know that this will set me back and I was hoping to be working again come January or February. Luv nne A friend popped round this morning. She had phoned me last week and said I sounded so ill she thought she would come round to see how I was. But she sees me this morning all bright and chirpy and looking well. What happened - well I am back on Armour of course. Get a FREE AOL Email account with unlimited storage. Guest guest
Are they going by your TSH. They should know that once taking T3 the TSH is always suppressed. My PCT is the same but change is coming. I guess that is another thing that should be addressed with the government, who at the moment are so concerned with people who are on benefits going to work. An answer to the BTA saying that Armour could cost the NHS up to £20 a month is that the £20 a month could turn to a lot more received in taxes, and national insurance, and saving in benefits if it gets someone into work who cannot otherwise. Guest guest
Yes Lilian, going by the TSH which is actually perfect. I did telephone Dr Samways about taking seeing me once a year, just to check my bloods and write to my GP that my results were perfect and I was doing well and should continue on the 3.5 grains per day. Unfortunately she would not see me unless I had a full 1 hour appointment with her and then she said it would cost me another 1 hour to write the letter - this would work out far more expensive than providing myself the 2 grains per day that I am being stopped. Yep, if they gave me the full 3.5 grains per day, I would continue to regain my health, cannot believe how much I have come along since May 2005 and diagnosis, and be able to contribute to the work force and become a good tax payer yet again - oh well, I am not down yet, I shall continue to search out a dr prescribing it in the area if at all possible, then I shall get my 3.5 per day again. My GP is at least prescribing me something which I am very grateful for because they could have said, nope the deal was that you would be monitored by a person who is able to take the results on and know that they are not going to cause me a problem. My last endo was supposed to have arranged a bone scan for me because they were so worried that my TSH was suppressed, must be really concerned because I have not seen the endo for months and I am still waiting for the scan. Guest guest
Great news Lilian - I was so worried you might have upset the applecart by leaving your Armour off - but 2 weeks is not bad and there would still have been some T4 in your system - not sure about the half life of T2, T1 and T0 though. Anyway, thank goodness you are now fit and fighting again. Luv - Sheila As you know I gave up Armour and just took thyroxine for a couple of weeks. Couldn't take any more so had the blood test on Friday and back on Armour Saturday morning. A friend popped round this morning. She had phoned me last week and said I sounded so ill she thought she would come round to see how I was. But she sees me this morning all bright and chirpy and looking well. Guest guest
I am making a point on that issue Lilian. Not diagnosing and treating hypothyroidism is costing the Government a lot of money. Luv - Sheila Are they going by your TSH. They should know that once taking T3 the TSH is always suppressed. Guest guest
I am fantasising here, but I would like to be the fly on the wall at the tax office if you bought your extra 2 grains yourself, went to work and claimed the price of it as a tax deduction because without it you would not be able to work Lilian Unfortunately she would not see me unless I had a full 1 hour appointment with her and then she said it would cost me another 1 hour to write the letter - this would work out far more expensive than providing myself the 2 grains per day that I am being stopped.
