Thanks for the clarification on Epsom salts, . That's useful

information. The bit about pectin was my fault, I think I told the doctor

that's what softens the stones.

Also - I've only had the pancreatitis and jaundice (once each)

during/immediately following gallbladder attacks so I assume they have both

been as a result of blockage. However, I guess the MRCP is to check on

anything else that could be causing problems... I'm fantasising that all

the gravel and sludge has gone by now, after 6 attacks!

You said: You cannot flush the toilet if the water is turned off. Avoiding

fats will reduce the chance of stimulating an attack and will exacerbate the

problem at the same time.

I know!!! :-S That's why I've avoided a low fat diet for as long as I

could, in spite of advice to the contrary. I'm also NOT losing any weight

whatsoever on a low-fat, high GI diet, whereas I lost 19 lbs on

low-carbing...

Do you have an opinion on whether I would need to do the apple juice regime

if I've only got gravel and sludge? If anyone can tell me it's not as

necessary for sludge and gravel then I might just give a flush a try over

the weekend, before the MRCP next Wednesday...

I just wish I could find a doctor who would say, " Yes, gallbladder flushes

are a good idea, go ahead and I'll supervise you " or " Yes, gallbladder

flushes are usually a good idea but not in your case because... " Just a

medical doctor who would approve of them and then be able to fight my corner

against the rest of them!! As things stand I know I'll be pilloried if I do

a flush and have another attack or any complications as a result.

Hi ,

Unfortunately you can have attacks with only sludge and gravel without any

or very little of the crepitus being eliminated. Since you have had six and

other complications something is most likely compromising the flow. Heavy anti

inflammatory and anti infectious treatment before attempting a flush might be

wise. Having said that, flushing might be very, very successful afterwards or

during. Having your MRCP first before attempting a flush might also be wise in

order to eliminate the possibility of other factors.

Finding a doctor that will supervise is easy: Flush and if there are any

problems go to the doctor. Again, doctors are not educated in health, they tend

to be educated in sick. This is a very good thing when the need arises but

means that they may not be your best source of expertise all the time. Because

you have had major discomfort during your attacks does not mean you will during

the flush. Many in your situation have immediate relief.

A high GI diet is the worst thing for either trying to lose weight or being

healthy in most other regards. Your present manifestation will predispose you

to blood sugar issues as well. Go to

www.drmercola.com<http://www.drmercola.com/> and check out his info, it is very

good.

You can use malic acid instead of apple juice for the flush.
