Guest guest
Hi Shelia Posting the following just in case it may be of any use to Dr S. (you never know) However, I do realise that the TSH range is NOT part of the complaint, but it may still be of some help. Its the 'wording' of the original complaint that is to be reckoned with. jenny freeman *PS I got this from a post on the about.com thyroid forum " The American College of Endocrinology's (ACE) commitment to enhance and expand the educational experiences for endocrine fellows-in-training Since 2002, over 1,050 endocrine fellows, representing more than 130 programs across the country, have attended the course, which is held at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The curriculum is specially designed to help prepare final year fellows for entering clinical practice by enhancing their exposure to the following six key areas of clinical endocrinology. " The AACE made this statement in 2003 regarding the new guideline ranges set for TSH. " Until November 2002, doctors had relied on a normal TSH level ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 to diagnose and treat patients with a thyroid disorder who tested outside the boundaries of that range5 . Now AACE encourages doctors to consider treatment for patients who test outside the boundaries of a narrower margin based on a target TSH level of 0.3 to 3.04. AACE believes the new range will result in proper diagnosis for millions of Americans who suffer from a mild thyroid disorder, but have gone untreated until now.
