Hey guys,

My doc said I should wait 6 weeks since my thyroid dose change before

I have another blood test. Its been about 4-5 weeks now. Is it ok to

have it tested now.

Its just my muscle ache so much and I get so tired I get exhausted

just walking anywhere, and I need to go to uni for my lectures. Iv had

a CPK test to see if I have any muscle disease which was normal. So

the doc has now said to wait til my next thyroid test to see whats

going on.

If I have a test next week, Ill get the results in two weeks, and Ill

also get the results of the ACTH test. I jsut want to get some armour

or something as quick as possible cos I think It'll stop my aching

muscle and tiredness.

Also, The ACTH shows cortisol. Is there any chance that if it's

normal, my DHEA could be low? that's what the salivary test showed (my

cortisol was in range although quite flat throughout the day but my

DHEA was out). Would the doc test DHEA?

I would get the tests done now Jonny. PLEASE persuade them to test your Free T4, Free T3 and TSH. I am sure you are not converting as you should to T3 and this is why you are getting the muscle aches. Your cortisol level should not show quite flat throughout the day, neither should your DHEA. You can have DHEA out of the range with a near normal cortisol reading. Don't jump the gun worrying about the results - wait and see what they say and then we can take it from there.

blood test too, which is good. I'll see what he says about havin my

DHEA checked. If I have got low DHEA, don't I want to get this sorted

out before I go onto Armour?

Hi Jonny,

T4 has a half life of 5 ( some say 9) days so you need to be on a

dose for 25 days for it to stabilise and can still sometimes improve beyond

this. It is easy to think that more is better, sooner, but sometime the body

revolts at too steep a curve and then you have to go back to square one and

start again, but even more slowly. I know this is frustrating, but better

safe than sorry.
