One of my kids tested allergic to casein so I'm not feeling > hopeful. I love cheese! -----> I was fairly suspicious of diary no big surprise. The test says cow's milk so I need to call and find out about goat. Different types of casiens. Plus I've heard the protiens form differently depending on the type of food the animal is getting. Grassfed high quality goat dairy might be just fine.....LOL..if you can find it! Here's a short synopsis of the difference: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/casein_sensit ivity.htm Anyhow...I bought the Thai cookbook I've been eyeing for about 2 months so all is not lost! Guest guest
Hi Lynn, What dairy/gluten allergy test did you have (or do you recommend)? I tested dairy, casien and gut absorbtion as an indicator of damage. I think total costs were around $250. Enterolab seems to be the gold standard on another list I'm on. (weston price lists for wheat-free, dairy-free eating) These kinds of allergies can cause cortisol proplems and I've got that. Lynn

Guest guest
Marie, would you be willing to post your results in our database? Both the one on the patch test and the one on iodine loading test results. iodine/database [if anyone else has used the patch test (especially if you have done it more than once) or the loading test, please post your results.] We are trying to collect data to determine whether the patch test has any validity -- i.e., does the patch test really measure how much iodine is in the body. Also, we are trying to find out what results people get on the iodine loading test. Yours are particularly high for someone who has not supplemented. Guest guest
To get the free consultation, you must order directly from the Flechas labs (FFP labs). Ask about it when you order the test. If you order from VRP, your test will be processed by FFP labs, but you won't get the free consult. Zoe ----- Original Message ----- From: sunlady59 I ordered my test thru VRP and asked if the test included a consultation. I was told no. Guest guest
Yes, I certainly will post my results in the database. Another question, which my holistic doc just asked and for which I cannot figure out either: My spot test came out high 0.779 (range is >0.149). If this was high, shouldn't I have excreted 90% or more on the loadng test? I excreted 74%. Marie > > > > Here are the results of my first loading test. Guest guest
The spot test range is based on conventional iodine testing (e.g., with people using 150 mcg iodine). So, anyone using high iodine amounts (e.g., the 50 mg Iodoral) will test very high relative to this range. The iodine loading test uses a completely different range. So, it is quite possible to be very high on the spot test and very low on the iodine loading test. Zoe My spot test came out high 0.779 (range is >0.149). If this was high, shouldn't I have excreted 90% or more on the loadng test? I excreted 74%.Marie
Guest guest
Hi everyone: Got my results in the mail. Wondered what your thoughts might be about them. Iodide (spot) 0.416 (range >0.149 mg/L) Notes: this test if for normal thyroid function & control of endemic goiter: 1. Severe iodine deficiency defined as 0.025 mg or less 2. Moderate iodine deficiency defined as 0.025-0.050 mg 3. Mild iodine deficiency defined as 0.050-0.100 mg 4. Borderline iodine deficiency defined as 0.100-0.150 mg 5. For normal levels of thyroid hormone & control of endemic goiter under all physiological conditions, the thyroid needs levels of 0.150mg or greater 24hr Urine Loading Iodine/Iodide Total Urine Vol: 3,000 ml/24hr (I was well-hydrated ) I & I Loading: 35 LOW (ref >44 mg/24hrs) I & I Saturation: 70 LOW (ref >90 % Total) So, I gather from this that my daily intake is sufficient for the thyroid, but not for full-body saturation. I was suprised by my spot level - I thought it would be lower. I don't use table salt, as I was avoiding it due to edema, especially in the legs. I used to be good about a daily multi, but have slacked off & gotten sporadic the last year. After I took the test, I started up daily again. I eat a moderate amount of fish; I don't eat seaweed or take kelp supplements. I try to be good about fruits & veggies (5+ servings/day) but I have my off days. I'm in the N.E. so maybe our soil isn't iodine-deficient. I spend two months/year in Portugal; I don't know the status of iodine in their soil. I now use Celtic sea salt, but I started that after the test. I was also suprised by my saturation level. I didn't expect it to be that high. In the iodine-spot test, it disappeared in four hours. No way I expected to be that close to full saturation. I started on Lugol's drops 2 weeks ago. I'm up to 6 drops/day, working my way up to 8. Considering where I started, how long do you think it's likely to to take to reach full saturation? Once I've reached full saturation, do you think it would be a good plan to only use 1 drop/day for maintenance? I know the usual recommendation is 2 (12.5mg). I seem to be getting a decent amount of iodine somehow in my diet, going by the spot test. My grandmother had breast cancer, so I'm using iodine for breast health/general health, as well as for my hypothyroidism (which I suspect started up around 1998, but I didn't get diagnosed until now). Any other comments greatly appreciated! If it helps for reference, these are the results of some of my recent saliva/blood tests: My CC saliva tests from 10/5/06 showed mild adrenal problems: 7am-8am - 23 normal (13-24nM) 11a-noon: 8 normal (5-10nM) 4pm-5pm: 2 DEPRESSED (3-8nM) 11pm-MDT: 1 normal (1-4nM) Cortisol burden: 34 (23-42) DHEA 1 DEPRESSED (3-10ng/ml Cortisol-DHEA Correlation - #4. Guest guest
We are shooting for a 90% excretion meaning my body has enough in it and when I take the " challenge " dose it flushes it out because it doesn't need it. As for bromide - I have no idea how much I had to begin with but it seems like a lot since I eat organic now. It's frustrating to see it drop so slowly. Dr. B suggested I increase my Iodine dose again. UGH! Guess I will go to 125 mgs after I get back from vacation. Not willing to detox while I am gone. Guest guest
Not true that you don't reach it. You can and most do. My symporters are so damaged by the RAI that we are struggling to heal them enough to pull iodine in. This dropping in levels is a prime reason why to test as we messed with my protocol trying some new things and dropping others and now we need to add some stuff back and know what doesn't work. Iodine is my cancer protector. I need it to stay high. Re: My Iodine Loading Test Results > So why bother with the test if we never reach optimal?
