Guest guest
Hi Kim - of course we remember you! Hope you had a good time in Paris! Could you get your T3 and T4 done privately? I did this and it wasnt very expensive (Nptech in the files). My TSH was normal (and I was told I was depressed etc and no notice taken of all my hypoT symptoms!) and couldnt get any further until I had the bloods done myself. I then took these to the GP and insisted on a referral to an endocrinologist - who did diagnose me. Also, if the problem is with the pituitary it will never show up on a TSH test but would need T4 testing to see if this is the case. Could you push for the T4 at least - suggest that it might be pituitary and if the GP puts this on the blood form they probably will at least do the T4. Thank you and your husband so much for the help with the papers - sorry you are now tasked with the envelope stuffing! It is so much appreciated by all of us - hope that thought helps!! Gill x Hi Everyone,I have been chatting to Sheila on and off to let someone know I am still around. I havent spoken for a while because I have had a lot to deal with. Getting back to work after six months, struggling with my weight. Confused about whether my weight gain is just overeating or maybe a Thyroid problem. You will not remember my history but I was diagnosed in October with Obssional Compulsive Disorder and clinical depression (IOCD), I had gained weight despite being poorly and after a busy weekend trudging around Paris. .. Guest guest
Hi Kim just to say, OCD me too, but I know now that it is the adrenal thing, and the upset with the thyroid hormone interraction, how? Because after all these years of managing with only the odd bit of a problem, yesterday I had the most horrendous do with obsessional thoughts and fears and anxiety, and that gets you very very depressed after a while so take heart. I believe with a lot of us they are misdiagnosing, I lived through hell for years until my thyroid seemed to switch itself down and I went on Seroxat. That must have taken the strain off the adreanals a bit, I don't know, but I do know that on the third day of 1 grain of armour I went into a state I hate again! Thand goodness Val on the Adrenal forums was available. Oh by the way, I am so grateful to Shiela too, and yourself whom I have never met as I think I am really a relative newbie, but thanks so much for your endaevors and your family from me too. All help is so much appreciated. Take care and God bless you. luv Dawnx
Guest guest
Hi Kim, Wonderful news and thanks for working so hard for all of us! Hope you will be feeling better when you can get to deal with the candida. This has reminded me I meant to send Sheila a paypal donation but I forgot to note which if her email addresses was the relevant one. Sheila, can you oblige please! Subject: Sheila's Babies! Hi Everyone, I have been chatting to Sheila on and off to let someone know I am still around. Oh and for the first time ever my cholesterol had risen. I had the TFT test done by GP and it was normal. Despite her sending me for my requested T3, T4 and antibodies the lab would not process them because the function test was norma and that is there criteria. So I have been reading books on all sorts of stuff related to weight loss in search of the 'holy grail'. I did the Candida test and it was showing positive i.e the stringy spit thing. So tonight I wanted to let you all know but especially Sheila that I have tonight folded one each of her two documents plus letter and stuffed them in the first envelope!!! woo hoo!. Unfortunately I am looking at 11 boxes of letters the two papers and necessary envelopes. Sheila has worked extremely hard and we should all be eternally grateful for her eneavours and the professional responses she has written. My husband Jon has been an absolute star, he has called in some rather expensive favours to get the printing done and get the paper and envelopes donated too. Our small contribution has been buying the paper for the letters. One of Jons printer contacts printed the two jobs free of charge and supplied paper and ink. Jon has managed to get the company he works fors mailing house to do all the pre-addressed letters and supplied the envelopes. I have been told by my long suffering husband - 25 yrs on 21st May!! that I have to fold the two papers with a letter and then put them in the envelope. I have to go and buy the 1000 stamps (money supplied by Sheila through donations) and then have the task of sticking all the stamps. I have every intention of roping in by means of blackmail my two youngest offspring Robyn 11 and Charlotte 8. They will not see daylight until the last stamp is stuck on and then I will deposit them at the nearest post office. I have to say Jon is so relieved this is almost at an end as it has caused him some sleepless nights. As for me if I make it through the rest of the week I will let you know. I am at work Wed and the weekend and will be busy inbetween after that I will be back on the forum asking for help and advice regarding my confusions regarding my health. love Kim ------------------------------------ Messages are not a substitute for professional medical advice. Guest guest
Hi Kim, Jon and Kiddies, Hopefully, both of you and your family will be one of the spokes in the wheel that is turning things around to start the vast and necessary changes within the NHS in the diagnosing and treatment of hypothyroidism. I can never begin to tell you what a wonderful job you have done to help sufferers of hypothyroidism in the UK - and hopefully, help doctors too in their understanding of the reasons why many patients need a choice of treatment rather than the NHS protocol of treating with L-thyroxine alone. Is it possible to rope in some of your neighbours to help you stuff the envelopes. Over 1000 is a massive amount, and I know the last time we stuffed were occupied in stuffing envelopes, our cottage was like a factory production line. When you have finished them all, your local Post Office will give you a special sack to pile them all in - and believe me, you might well need two. I took a photograph of with the sack on his back when we sent some information to the endocrinologists and PCT's before, but I can't find it, so if you can, do take photographs and I will put them on the forum - or you can upload them direct to the forum photo's section yourself. We have to keep on letting these doctors and PCT's know how wrong the NHS protocol is and get them to change things, and we will do whatever it takes to change things. Patients are being caused an unnecessary amount of suffering and they are affecting their lives On another VERY positive side, I can today tell you, though I can't say too much at the moment, that something is going on the background with a certain national TV documentary programme and myself (representing the campaigning work TPA -UK is involved in and the reasons why) and if it comes off - will be absolutely tremendous with the possibility of a real break-through for patients and doctors. Certainly, questions will be asked. The mainstream NHS doctors and BTA have had it their way for far too long and it is now time for patients to fight back and have their day. I am not able to give any details and might be a while before I can say anything more, but as soon as I know anything further, I will let you all know. Thanks again Kim and Jon for your help in our latest TPA-UK campaign - quite simply, without you both, this would never have come to fruition, neither would it have been possible without the very generous donations that have been sent towards the cost of the postage. Thank you all so very much. I now have sufficient funds to pay for the postage for the TSH paper and I have already started to research this controversy, and am getting a lot of evidence together against the use of TSH in diagnosing and treatment protocol - again, this will be by way of response to the BTA recommendations, as this is basically where all the misleading and incorrect information is coming from. When completed, this will also be sent to NHS endocrinologist's, members of the BTA Executive Committee, members of the Government and Department of Health. Anybody who is being forced to take L-thyroxine only and who are not regaining their normal health, should ask their doctors why they are doing this and not giving them a choice of treatment. If they don't give you an answer that you understand and accept, then copy these papers and post them to your GP and ask him/her to read the information with all the references to back up the evidence. Ask him/her to respond with his/her comments in writing - and to back their comments up with evidence. By keeping on, this is the only way we can get them to realise that something needs to be done to change their treatment protocol. Don't let your GP forget about it, keep on and on until s/he does respond. You can find these papers on our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk in the right hand column under TPA-UK News. Looking forward to your 'return' to the fold Kim and I hope you regain your normal health as soon as possible. Luv - Sheila As for me if I make it through the rest of the week I will let you know. Guest guest
Thanks , However, I must tell you that I have now received sufficient funds to cover the postage of this particular campaign. I also have enough funding for the postage of the TSH paper which will be sent to the same organisations and people,. I am then writing another paper on the adrenal/thyroid connection some time in the future, so donations towards the cost of that one would be welcome. However, I would rather ask at the time of doing that, so many thanks. Luv - Sheila Hi Kim,Wonderful news and thanks for working so hard for all of us! Guest guest
Wow Hi Sheila, I didnt think I would surface today! I spent approx 8 hrs solid standing at my table folding the two papers and with the letter shoving them in the envelope. My feet are sore, my back aches but I think I must be half way there! I am being a real matyr with this one. I was the one that persuaded Jon to find some kind printer to do the job, so its the least I can do. Having said that and looking at the growing mountain of stuffed envelopes in boxes growing, I knew I would need a sack or two. As I am at work Wednesday I will probably do some in the evening when Jon goes out skittling. I will then go get the stamps on Thurday! So its coming together, it will probably be easier for me to look after a labouring woman tomorrow than the 'envelopes'. Will get some pics if I can luv Kim > > Hi Kim, Jon and Kiddies, > > Hopefully, both of you and your family will be one of the spokes in the wheel that is turning things around to start the vast and necessary changes within the NHS in the diagnosing and treatment of hypothyroidism. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, The OCD is the part that drags me down. The intrusive thoughts I know so well, for years have been telling my someone I love will die - because they are late home or I will get a dreadful disease which will kill me. When at work the thoughts were constantly telling me I was no good, I couldnt remember how to do my job, that a mistake would happen and it would be my fault. So although having the diagnosis was a relief it was the start of a real roller coaster. I am on Venlafaxine which also improves levels of Serotinin and noradrenalin - so again that would point to adrenal fatigue. In fact one of my GPs thought I had adrenal fatigue but my regular GP muttered that she didnt think I had. My problem is I have been relatively good at hiding how rubbish I was feeling. Reading stuff on this forum gave me hope and Sheila has been wonderfully supportive as have many of the members. Hence why I wanted to help out with the print. Take care Kim
