Guest guest
Stan, it was great meeting you, finally! My undersatnding from Don Mills is that the new, re-designed 11 cm Inamed band for heavier people will be available in about 6-8 months. This is something to discuss with Dr Kuri. The larger port you saw was the one most docs use. The smaller one is the " mini-port " . both work the same, but the smaller one is less obtrusive for very thin people, so some people have the regular port replaced with the mini-port after they reach goal. Others get the mini-port during original banding. The mini-port has a smaller " target " and can be harder to hit for a fill, unless it is placed sternally. The tubing from the port to the band (with one connection in the middle) is about 12 inches long. When shorter tubing was used, there was a fair rate of disconnects, requiring a minor surgical repair. Any excess tubing does no harm. Guest guest
Stan, I didn't realize you were in the Portland area! We have a great lunch group (that I am surprised Becca didn't tell you about!) called the VanPortBandits. We meet at noon every Wednesday, and the location varies from week to week. Look for the group VanPortBandits, or e mail me and I will hook you up with some of the best supporters you will ever meet! It was GREAT to meet you! Guest guest
Instead of moving to sd, you should move in with jan Webster, she will get that thirty six pounds off you in a couple of weeks, (trust me) why does it take six months for the operation? Did I miss something in room fourtwenty on this topic????? " ...make a new plan Stan... " Hey Everybody... THE BASH WAS A BLAST!!! Thanks to everybody who coordinated stuff...you all made a newbie like me feel very welcomed...it feels like family...thanks so much! After an intense chat with several of my brothers and sisters in room 420, (LOL...thanks guys!) I have decided to go with Dr Kuri for my surgery...and soon...I decided on my way home today that instead of getting a loan to fix up and sell my house prior to moving to San Diego (for 6 months for the operation) that I would just use the money to pay for my few months away, so Im now planning on moving to SD this week, if possible... My plan all along has been (prior to surgery) to get back to where I was at a year ago when I had been exercising by taking a 20-30 minute fast walk, 3-4 times a week, with my heart rate " in the zone " ...it usually takes me about 2-3 weeks to get back to that level after a long dry spell, but once Im there, its a great place to be...I eat good, sleep good, drink lotsa water, etc...I just havent stuck with it for very long...Im sure you guys understand... Dr Kuri wants me to get under 500lbs prior to surgery, which I think I can do in 8 weeks or less...about a month ago I weighed in at 536lbs (my heaviest ever), but Ive lost weight since then so I dont know where Im at now...close to that Im sure. I also want to wait for that new lapband for bigger people...what do you guys think of that lapband versus the original? I think its an 11cc band... ....the one Don Mills showed us in his little speech??? And what is the difference in ports, or the linkage between the port and the band...I saw a port that was smaller and some tubing that was shorter, but forgot to ask Don about it...anybody know? Thanks again to everybody...it was great to meet all you guys! Stanman

Although I am not currently seeking a room mate, I intend to help Stan as much as I can, he is a big sweetie and I can't wait to see his success.
