Me, Mum and now Dad (probably) have hypothyroidism....a mutual cause?

I just wondered that since me, my mum, and my dad all have an

underactive thyroid, is there any single variable that could be the

sole cause for each of are maladies?

Any way anything to do with something that would have affected us all,

like our house for example, that could have caused it? Heavy metals in

the water? anything at all?
