I buy my Melatonin from http://www.pharmwest.com/order.html. There is a telephone and FAX number for their office ion Ireland and I always put in my order by telephoning. You have to wait about a couple of weeks before it comes. However, it is very reasonable. I order the 3 mgs but cut each tablet in half so I take 1 1/2 mgs about half an hour before I go to bed. It usually starts to work then. Good luck. Sounds as if you could have too much cortisol still floating around Mel if you can't get to sleep. When do you expect the results to come back?

Luv - Sheila

Does anyone know where I can purchase good quality Melatonin here in the UK or a website overseas ? I'd like to get some to assist my sleep - I can't sleep till 2 or 3am - I'm going nuts ! I've only taken Armour for 9 days and I haven't got my cortisol results back yet ... but want to try the Melatonin. Many thanks - Mel xx

Hi Sheila,

Thanks for that link for Melatonin... I've had my tests you suggested with

Nptech and I'm

waiting on the results...

I'm beyond shattered through the day and sure enough night time I start with

palps and

get some energy ! it's so weird ... I'll be dead tired and at the same time

sort of wired ...

So maybe I'm getting cortisol at night or something ? Very odd... anyway - I'l

post my

results as soon as I know them - hopefully this coming week !

Sheila, thank you so much for all your efforts and kind replies - I don't know

where you

get the energy or the patience ? Thank you on behalf of us all ! Mel

xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Mel,

Maybe it would help if you post here what you are taking and when. It

may be that you could adjust something and sort out the problem.

I will be really interested to see your results Mel. Many thanks for your kind remarks. I guess I get my energy and patience from being so angry at the way I was treated within the NHS and how ill I was, and how well I became once I found Armour and realised just how many thousands of people are continuing to suffer because doctors are not taught about thyroid disease in their training. I sometimes think I will never give up until we make the medical profession realise how wrong they have been and how THEY are responsible for all these ill people.

Hi Mel

I get my melatonin from Biovea. I find that the 1mg capsules are the

best because I can increase the dose. When I bought the 3mg tablets I

found that it was too much. I generally take 1mg capsule a night and on

the rare occasion I need extra, I take another later on in the night.

Hi Mel,

Sleep disturbances are not uncommon when you start armour as your

body is coming awake and can get a bit confused.

When do you take your Armour? Maybe taking a greater part of your dose in

the morning and taking the second dose not too late in the afternoon will

help. I had this problem and now take it as all one dose- though this is not

generally recommended.

I too take all my armour first thing as soon as I open my eyes. If I take it later in the day I cannot get to sleep. My temperature does not drop during the day, which suggests that I do not need to split my dose. I think everyone should not be afraid to experiment to see what works best for them.

We recommend new patients to split their dose because some people are unable to take the amount of T3 in Armour all at once. It also has a very short half life and some people, if they take their dose all first thing in the morning, start to feel very droopy and sleepy by mid-afternoon because the T3 has almost left their body. I know that I cannot manage by taking my Armour all in one dose, and I have split my dose taking half before breakfast and half around 2.00p.m. for over 3 years now. It is great for those who can manage with one dose and well done Val.

People taking Levothyroxine only are finding that taking their dose in the evening instead of first thing in the morning works better for them, and are actually saying they get a better night's sleep doing it that way
