Guest guest
HI all, Sorry I have been absent so much lately...we have been having a sort of family emergency... Hubby has been getting more tired and out of breath for months now...we assumed because he had a heart attack and quad bypass in January 2000, that things were going bad again...over last weekend he got so bad that just walking across the room was enough to have him gasping for air... I called his cardiologist first thing Monday am and got him an appointment...they have been doing lots of tests and put him oin a diuretic... Someone mentioned that armour might not be a good choice for a heart patient, because of the t3, so I decided to call the endo to see what his take was on it...I talked to the np, who is who Dan just had his appt with a couple of weeks ago...funny how quick they call you back when you mention wanting to ask questions about his meds because he is having heart stress tests...because of problems...lol She insists the armour is just fine as long as the dose is what your body needs and the recent tests show he is right where he needs to be and as long as there are no palps, should be no problem...BUT she said she noticed that our family doctor had put him on Avandamet and that this could defintely be causing the problem, because it is a listed side-effect...another drug in the same class was banned for the same reasons...BUT the manufacturer of this drug insists that it is ok... Well the endo-np switched him to straight metphormin and they had put him on a diuretic on Monday, so we are praying that this will solve the problem and there will be no lasting efects...we have yet to see test results, so we will know more soon...and know for sure if there are toher problems and how lasting the effects will be...I have been researching and there are lawsuits against the maker of avandamet...so we just may have a case ourselves... He was this huge puff-ball and the diuretic made him lose 20 lbs since Monday! I really haven't been on much...for a few days, I could hardly sit still...not ready to be a widow...or for my hubby to have to retire and the income go way down...financially we would be sunk...haven't been sleeping well, so am dragging during the day...hopefully the worst is over and he will just improve...Please keep us in your prayers...we need them...Hugs, Bee Here are some links on avandia/avandamet for anyone who is interested... http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3017585 http://www.heartcenteronline.com/myheartdr/home/research-detail.cfm?reutersID=4012 http://www.avandia-side-effects.com/index.html Bee Fuddled ~ Founding Member/Owner of American Thyroid Patients ~ ~ Indiana Thyroid Support ~ Founder/Owner ThyroidFitness~IN Groups ThyroidFitness/__________________________________________________

Guest guest
Thanks, Rhonda! Dan is so much improved! They put him on a diuretic and then switched him to a different diabetes med...he is doing very good...so much improved...I have found so much info on that drug and there are lawsuits against it for wrongful death and everything... I just don't understand why, if it is well known that heart patients should avoid it, the drug company that makes it, is trying to hide it... We are just hoping that there was no permanent damage done by the med when they take him off of the diuretic...he is back to work and everything... Keep praying that all will be ok in the long run...Hugs, BeeRhonda <rollerqueen@...> wrote: you got it bee...((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))Love Rhonda...Please keep us in your prayers...we need them...Hugs, Bee>> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________>
