Guest guest
hi I have never heard of taking 2-4mg of DHEA! You can safely take up to 25mg DHEA, I take 50mg of 7-keto DHEA. Also I take 20mg of cortef daily (5mg 4X a day), which I order from England no Rx needed. My doc will give me Rx but it's still cheaper from England. I think it's very easy to treat yourself!!! but if you want a doc to do it, you might look at http://www.brodabarnes.org click on get info packet. I also think the right dose of Iodoral is important. Gracia Hi,I have been taking Iodoral for approx. 4 months and seem to be havingadrenal pain. I can actually feel the pain right above my left kidneyand it hurts all the time. I also have salt cravings periodically.I know from a cortisol saliva test that my adrenals are not workingright, but all the doctors that have tested me (24 cortisol urine, electrolite 24 hr. urine and cortisol blood work) came back normal andmost of them won't look at the saliva results. So I can't get anydoctor to help me with what I think is adrenal insuffiency. I amtaking DHEA and upped that to 4 mgs from 2 mgs to see if that wouldhelp the adrenals. I tested low in DHEA a few years ago. One more thing, the doctor that started me on Iodoral isn't aroundanymore and I need help to find a doctor that will advise me with this. Please help!! Guest guest
Sounds like your adrenals are crying for help! You need a cortisol saliva test and an aldosterone blood test. Salt craving is a symptom of low aldosterone and people who are adrenal insufficient usually are also low in aldosterone. If you don't have a dr. to order these tests you can order them online at site that we can order most ANY testing online with lab locations all over the US to get blood draws. Many blood labs, urine labs too including the elusive aldosterone test. https://orders.directlabs.com/dl-locator/order_tests.aspx Hope this helps Dove Rose On 6/1/2007 10:42:52 AM, nineinatub (nineinatub@...) wrote:> Hi,> > I have been taking Iodoral for approx. 4 months and seem to be having> adrenal pain. Guest guest
Gracia - that is all I take. Dr. Brownstein put me on 2 mgs of DHEA when I first started with him. After a year of this my DHEA dropped (adrenal issues along with mercury toxicity) and he bumped me up to 5 mgs. I also take pregnenolone. Both are precursors to adrenal hormones. They work in tandem. Both were low for me. Steph hi I have never heard of taking 2-4mg of DHEA! You can safely take up to 25mg DHEA, I take 50mg of 7-keto DHEA. Guest guest
Gracia and Steph, Yes, pretty much the same for me, except Dr. Brownstein started me right out on the 5mgs DHEA and the pregnelone as well. (My levels were very low, too.) Last tests indicated that those were both up .. slightly. Gloladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> wrote: Gracia - that is all I take. Guest guest
I never felt anything/improvement on pregnenolone. I have read that the recommend for DHEA is 5-15mg and up to 25mg for females, 50mg for males. I felt/feel really great on 50mg 7-keto DHEA. Gracia Gracia and Steph, Yes, pretty much the same for me, except Dr. Brownstein started me right out on the 5mgs DHEA and the pregnelone as well. (My levels were very low, too.) Guest guest
I forgot to mention that I have been taking 20 mgs. of pregnenolone for approx. 7 months-- but I still have the "adrenal" pain. I took 4 mgs. of DHEA a few years ago, but had to back down to 2 mgs. due to male pattern hair loss (BTW the hair grew back after reducing the DHEA). As far as Cortef is concerned-- I took Isocort for 2 days and almost fainted and that scared me. After researching about cortisone replacement, I am worried that I will stop the adrenals from working if I take Cortef w/o a doctor's help. Can adrenals be healed by supplements and hormones like DHEA/Pregnenolone and maybe adrenal extracts?? I am more comfortable, right now, with that approach-- at least until I find a doctor that sees the need for me to take Cortef. Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect. Guest guest
You have to be very careful about dosing DHEA... it will make you feel great... it's a steriod hormone and boosts you up, kind of. But I take DHEA in an oil based capsule and this bypasses the liver (first pass) and goes into the lymphatic system so I have heard 2 mgs. of transdermal DHEA or the oil based capsule I take (both are supposed to work the same way) are equivalent to 20 mgs. of DHEA taken by mouth in a regular tablet/capsule. First pass is the liver getting rid of most of it and only a little enters into the bloodstream if you take a regular tablet by mouth. oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. What does Adrenal pain feel like where is it located... how do you know it is adrenal and not kidney pain? Sandy
