Hello,

Thought I would introduce myself. I am Sharon, 38 with one child

of my own plus a boyfriend who lives with me and his child. So three

men and me... I had a RNY 5.5 years ago. I lost 150 pounds but never

made it to goal. I started at 315 and ended somewhere about 165 for

a brief moment. I am 5'2 so still not a healthy BMI.It took me three

years to get to that weight then I started gaining weight back. I am

disabled and have a difficult time with exercise. I was doing 20

hours a week exercise until the pain was unbearable to continue. I

started gaining and at 70 pounds regain decided I needed a revision.

My surgeon was supposed to bypass more intestine and make my

pouch smaller and check the stoma size etc. Well, I woke up after

surgery and learned that nothing was bypassed at all and that I had

a lap band. We never discussed this procedure at all. The Dr. said

the only problem he could see after getting inside was an enlarged

stoma. So my food was sliding right through and my small intestine

was serving as a pouch. I was able to eat very large amounts of food

even after the RNY.The Dr. feels the band will slow the food down

going through the stoma and allow me to eat less and prevent the

intestine from being my extended pouch.I was shoked but very happy

something was done to help get this extra weight off.I had surgery

on Dec 5th and as of today I have already lost 15 pounds. I am very

happy.

I am now researching the band so I know what to expect. I go in

on Tuesday to have the staples removed and I can find out then what

kind of band I have.. Does anyone have suggestions on what other

questions I should be asking the Dr.? Any suggestions or tips for

me? I am looking forward to learning from everyone and hopefully I

will have something to share with everyone to help as well.

Happy Holidays
