Guest guest
Hi. I've had two fills. Was five months before the first one, and could have gone longer. Another fill another three months later, and that's it for me. Some take a LOT to get there....others never need one. If you NEVER need one, you won't be the first in history. Be thankful. So many others are frustrated for ages until they get the right fill. dan Sunday, July 10, 2005, 4:42:31 PM, you wrote: j> Is there anyone here who has never had a fill? j> I'm banded for 8 j> months and still have a great deal of j> restriction. Guest guest
Not many can lose well for a long time without a fill, but there are some. They are often men, and heavier people, who get good restriction just from the placement of the band. I know 6 people who have gotten to goal with no fills, and maybe 12 who did not need a first fill for a year or more. all but 3 are men, and most started over 350# and much more. Consider yourself lucky if you're not having to deal with fills and fluoros. Even with the highly-experienced docs, they are very elusive. The longer you can go without a fill, but still losing well and slowly, the better you are in a great many ways. Please pay particular attention to choosing foods that will give you the protein, fiber, and calcium you need for healthy loss. Since you are not having to deal with fills, big restriction, and pb's, it might be too easy to simply eat less of the same poor food choices as before. You might lose wright, but it will be a great deal harder to maintain later if you have not lost in a safe and healthy way that has improved your health and normalized your metabolism . Guest guest
Hi , welcome! Paige sounds like a smart child or mature for her age? (8 yrs going on 16 yrs!) Has your doctor tried increasing the Zoloft? She still has room for an increase in dosage. Regarding the skin picking, and I'm sure you've read all you can find on it, I am wondering if you have tried inositol powder? Like with any " med " it won't work for some, helps others, etc. I'll post a link to an article for you to read below. But if you consider it, I HIGHLY recommend using it under her doctor's supervision since she is on an SSRI. Inositol is in the B vitamin family but also works on serotonin, which an SSRI does too. Scroll down in the article, it's a little past half way down (the paragraph on it). http://www.homestead.com/westsuffolkpsych/SkinPicking.html I'm a single mom, 3 sons. My OCD son is now 18! I joined this group way back when he was in 6th grade and his OCD seemed to erupt overnight to 24/7 compulsions. Long story, but right now his problem is bad thoughts. He also has diagnoses of Aspergers (on autism spectrum, he's mild) and dysgraphia (due to his writing, but it's improved). isn't on any medication now (I keep offering!) as he wants to beat this on his own. Well he's been trying to beat this for soon to be 2 years? SIGH! He did get past some things but these bad thoughts really drag him down. In middle school we used inositol powder for his OCD and it really helped but seemed to maybe be pooping out towards the end of 8th grade. He finally agreed to try a prescription medication and we used Celexa. He was on that thru 9th and 10th grades and was better and felt he could manage without meds. That lasted til half way through 11th grade when these bad thoughts began. We are trying inositol again but no help seen with it this time. Well don't want this to get too long! There are parents here familiar with skin picking, hope they see your post! > > My name is . I am mom to 2 cuties.
