Hi ,

Recently increased dose may be the culprit. If it is concerning

you talk to doc. If you are worried reduce back to 50mcg- it should settle

within a couple of days- thyroxine will be halved in 5 days.

How are your adrenals- intolerance to thyroid meds is often the result of

adrenal insufficiency.

Subject: Pulse fast

Hi guys

I have been on Levothyroxine for six weeks now (one week on 25ug, three

on 50ug and now in second week of 75ug) and just today I noticed that my

heart is racing. I am not panicked or having palps or anything. I just

noticed my heart seemed fast (normal 78bpm) have taken pulse 3 times

over the last hour and was 104, 102 and 114bpm. I am just sitting at my

desk, working the same as always. It has been a stressfull week!!

Is this likely to be related to the thyroxine - should I report to my

doc or should I just sit tight and see if it comes down again?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi ,

Thanks for the response. I am awaiting test results from NPTech on the

adrenals as I suspect there may be a problem there (i was in 2 car

accidents last year within a month of each other). I think I may have a

problem converting as I haven't really felt any benefit from being on

the levo, still tired all the time. Since taking I have also started

getting swollen ankles and being very stiff after I have been sitting

down. Hips very painful too.

I am due to have blood tests in a couple of weeks and seeing as my GP's

won't test FT3 I have booked a full thyroid panel with NPTech too.

We'll see how it goes!! Also getting the Candida checked.

Luv

PS pulse now 90bpm

Hi,

Stiffness can be the result of inability to convert I had to replace

some of my Armour with T3 to stop this. Took a couple of weeks to go away.

Hi

This sudden rapid heart beat could be because your adrenals need boosting as they appear to be unable to cope with the increased dose of thyroxine. Have you had a 24 hour salivary adrenal profile to see where your cortisol and DHEA are at the four specific times during the day. This could be important and you might need to take some adrenal supplements before increasing your thyroxine further.

Go to our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on Hypothyroidism in the Menu. On the drop down Menu, click on "Associated Conditions" and on the page that opens, click on Adrenals (and everything adrenal there) and read up about it so you can ounderstand the connection between thyroid/adrenals. Also, if you go to our FILES of this Forum and scroll down until you see "Adrenal Questionnaire", complete the questions there and see how you score. This will give you an indication as to whether you are suffering with low adrenal reserve or not

....and I was so stiff the muscles in my back were going into severe spasm, and all because I was not converting the T4 into T3. When I started Armour, the stiffness and muscle spasms went, never to return.

- you are an Armour convert, have you a short paragraph to be considered for ending the Armour paper? I'm not exactly getting inundated with these, and would rather somebody else said how their miracle happened rather than mine.

As few as possible please. It is a very long document as it is. I need something that smacks them in the eye and makes them think.

Hi Sheila,

This is what I have come up with- you may only want the second paragraph, but I

thought it best to put it in context.

I was diagnosed as hypothyroid in 1983 with a TSH of 126, never felt

well again despite 150mcg thyroxine. My health continued to deteriorate-

migraines, hysterectomy for blood loss, gained 4 stone in weight, mood swings

and depression, all the hypothyroid symptoms in the book.

Then in 1999 I was privately prescribed Armour Natural thyroid.

The result was little short of miraculous. My mood lifted, I lost weight

without dieting, the aches, pains and migraines stopped- my life started again

on that wonderful day I started taking Armour thyroid instead of thyroxine.
