Guest guest
Dear Zoe, Do you consume Carlson's cod liver oil? According to Dr. Bruce Fife (the VCO expert) it is highly processed and it contains fish oils other than cod liver oil and has had some vitamins removed (vitamin A)and some added (synthetic vitamin D). He recommend the one sold by Wilderness Family Naturals. Love, PamelaZoe & <ZOEA@...> wrote: I just received this response to my question about iodine in Calrson's Cod Liver Oil. I was quite surprised to hear her say there is NO iodine in their oil. Zoe Iodine in Cod Liver Oil Dear Zoe: In answer to your question, there is no iodine in Carlson's Cod Liver Oil. It is tested free of iodine. Sincerely, Eileen Customer Service Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min. Make PC-to-Phone Calls using Messenger with Voice. My first thought was that Carlson's removes a lot of the vitamin A and I wondered if the iodine is inadvertantly removed with the vitamin A. But then I remembered that they put the vitamin A and D in capsules and sell them separately. I've never had a problem taking large amounts of their A or D derived from cod liver oil so I don't think iodine goes there. Carlson's say they separate the A and D, then add a certain amount of A and D back to the clo in order to standard levels of A and D. It's my understanding that they separate the A from the D so maybe some goodies llke iodine are discarded during all the separating? But the way Carlson's talked, their process seems pretty standard and I would think Solgar and some of the other brands would also have no iodine. To get the WAPF-recommended dosage of vitmin A using Carlson's, you would have to take something like 12 tbsp per day! That dosage would be dangerously high in pufa's and vitman D. Carlson's tests free of mercury and other contaminants, so they'd be okay if they would just leave the vitamin A and D in there.
