I'm glad your surgery went well. I know a handful of people who have had their gallbladders removed and are fine. However, I also know a few who have ongoing problems as a result of the surgery, such as chronic diarrhea and digestive complaints. I do know many who have done the gallbladder flush, young and old alike who have all been successful. I for one have passed large gallstones approximately 2- 2/12 inches painlessly. I was amazed to say the least. I have to say, for me, it beats surgery. We all need to do what we feel comfortable with in our quest for good health. Sincerely, G. Guest guest
Hi, I had my gall bladder out a about a month ago. The ultrasound showed tha my stones were VERY large and my gallbladder was inflamed. I was having constant dull pain in my upper right side. I didnt have the normal symptons of pain when eatting fatty foods, but I never ate much fat anyway. If your stones are large, I would take precaution before trying the flush, I have heard it MAY make matters worse, if your trying to flush something out thats too big (or totally blocking a duct), but I'm no expert, and I never tried it. BTW, the surgery wasnt that bad, although I fought it every step of the way. He said I had the gallbladder of a 70 year old woman and I'm only 40. Otherwise, I'm in perfect health. He did have to crush the stones before removal. The scars are so small two of them are less than 1/2 inch. They look like a little cat scratch. The largest is about 1 inch. I went in a 8am on a Thursday, and was out at noon. I went back to work the next Monday. Today, I feel like a million bucks, although some people do have worse digestive problems afterward. Luckily I dont. C. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I haven't had back surgery either, but have had quite a bit of knee surgery. I had a bone graft done about 20 years ago and it took much longer than three weeks to get anywhere near me knowing things would get better. Last year in June I had arthroscopic surgery on both knees and I still haven't fully recovered from that. You need to give your body time to heal. Call your doctor and let him/her know you can't sleep and the pain meds aren't helping. The doc needs to know this info in order to better help your body heal. Joi had surgery hello all i had surgey L5-S1 its been 3 weeks and my leg is still numb the pain meds dont really work and sleeping is becoming a issue. the pain is worse in the morning getting out of bed and sitting isnt very comfortable either. Is there hope yet. My husband has been home with me to take care of the kids 2yr and a 7yr old. still cant drive or lift, I feel so helpless and useless. ------------------------------------

Guest guest
Three weeks is not a long time after your surgical procedure. Did you read up on any of your surgery before hand and after? Are you in PT? Having no hope can be a serious sign of depression and will not help healing- - - get informed, ask question, be proactive. If you are in PT I am questioning the tech that has not talked to you about the mind body connection.Be well read about the surgery, its aftercare and listen to your body and keep a healthy positive attitude. That is what helps heals the process. Good luck, Annie A poet is, after all, to see

Guest guest
What type of surgery did you have ? In 2003 I had a discectomy at L5-S1 and recovery was 8 weeks. In 2008 I had fusion and still have some numbness . The doc said the disc was so bad that the nerves were severly damaged and will take up to a yr to get rid of it . 3 weeks is nothing , Just take it easy and do what the doc tells you . Most try to hurry recovery and end up doing more damage .. Do you have a brace ? JW <joyfulfeathers@...> wrote: I haven't had back surgery either, but have had quite a bit of knee surgery. Guest guest
Recovery for fusions is 12-15 months. If you are in a brace, wear it! I had a full " turtle shell " that I was to wear for 3 months. How long were you in the hospital? I was still using a walker within 3 weeks. Don't rush it. My second surgery/fusion I had a very hard time getting out of my brace and was in it for 5 months. I never recovered from that one. Don't worry. Did you have a bone graft? Is there hope yet? I had this same surgery, the second time in May of 2000. It will take longer than 3 weeks. It is important that your doctor know your pain level so he can make adjustments. He should be able to prescribe something that will help you sleep and reduce your pain. Getting sleep is very important to your recovery. Also reducing your pain level will allow you to move which is important. I was up and walking within a week of being home. This was my 3rd surgery so I knew moving would help my rehabilitation, help me feel better, and to be blunt help your bowels to move. The numbness will be there awhile possibly as long as 6 months. I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Did your doctor prescribe a back brace? This will help you to relieve pain when getting up and down, and moving. Lifting your kids and driving is off the list for awhile. I think driving I was advised as non for 6 weeks. I'm sure others here can provide similar or different experiences. Recovery is not the same for everybody. Dave Reading, PA

Guest guest
Surgery doesn't always work. A good surgeon won't tell you it's 100% effective and raise false hopes. I went into both of mine (I have S1-L5, L5-L4 fused and hardwared) with an attitude that if my pain was decreased even only 30% or so it would still be an improvement. There is little chance of 100% improvement. Especially if there are other problems still there. I developed stenosis and bad scar tissue after the first one and after the second one I still have a lot of problems higher up. I am completely disabled. I can't walk, and I never lift anything. This is 10 months after my second surgery. The first one worked for about 6 months. Then it all came back even worse. Nerve pain down my leg, peeing myself, and tripping alot from my numb foot and leg. Use lots of ice and don't expect to get a lot of sleep. For the first two months after surgery it's very uncomfortable and you have to change positions alot. Get up and walk around a little bit, and switch sleeping surfaces. kjmacmason <kjmacmason@...> wrote: hello all i had surgey L5-S1 its been 3 weeks and my leg is still numb the pain meds dont really work and sleeping is becoming a issue. the pain is worse in the morning getting out of bed and sitting isnt very comfortable either. Guest guest
try an ice pack on your incision, that helps me alot.
