Or both in sequence. Or no apparent side effects. Results are not predictable. The hypothyroid is from the " Wolff-Chaikoff effect " , google for more info. (Related to recent threads on TSH going high?) Probably the body trying to protect itself against excess iodine, a defense against catabolism or wasting that would result from hyperthyroid. Guest guest
The only thing I've experienced is a slight reddish pimpling on my chest. This is likely due to the chelating effect of iodine, purging the bromide, chloride & fluoride from the body. Its severity will vary from person to person, depending on their toxicity levels. If someone gets a severe rash, it's recommended to back down on the iodine, let it subside & then ramp it back up again gradually. I didn't need to do that. The pimpling was mild. I also started at a 70% iodine saturation level, which is better than average from what I've seen. I'd say the larger majority of people tend to average in the <40% range. > > Has anyone had any unwanted side effect taking Iodoral? > Am still thinking you see lol > > Giulia >
Guest guest
Iodoral is a mineral/natural substance. I have found it is important to get the right dose and take enough. Meanwhile it is not without "effects". I felt it first in my head/brain and skin (acne like lesions!) and now feel it in my intestines and legs. I think it is healing from the head down and inside out. Really interesting stuff. Guest guest
I have wanted to write about my experience for a while now, but just now have had the time. I recently ordered Iodoral from Dr. Abraham with the intention of offering it on our website. I ordered the 50 mg caplets since he and others seem to think that most people need 50 mg/day. I have felt for a while that I am hypo so because of my rule to try all the products that I recommend, I tried Iodoral for 10 days. I began with the full 50 mg and did this for five days. I felt very bad the whole time, had skin eruptions and a light reddish rash on my face, depressed, considerable sneezing and finally ended up with a sinus headache that was close to a migraine. And this was after cutting back to 25 mg/day. When I stopped, I immediately felt better. I understand completely about detoxification (we offer a full detoxification protocol) and know all the signs and symptoms but these didn’t seem to be getting better, but worse. I also know that at some point iodine toxicity can enter into the picture. I also ordered all of Dr. Brownstein’s books and have read most of them. Because several of my symptoms were in the range of iodine toxicity, I decided to stop. I do believe that iodine can help people and I have been extremely interested in what has been said and experienced about cancer and iodine since I do a lot of nutritional balancing for cancer. Plus, I am a colon cancer survivor so my interest is probably higher than most natural health practitioners. I tell you all of this just to let you know my experience. Also, maybe some who are more knowledgeable may shed some light on the seemingly toxicity. I was a little concerned that Dr. Brownstein doesn’t really offer too much information on toxicity in his book and this may be because he doesn’t think that it happens very often—maybe someone else knows his thoughts about this? Another thing—I have lived on the Gulf Coast of Texas all my life, so possibly my iodine level is fine and I don’t really need it. Zoe has given me her permission to post the following. I have 11 bottles of 50 mg Iodoral. I would like to sell these bottles to those that really need it and know how to use it. However, I do not want to put this on our website in this high mg amount for people to play around with. I am eventually going to offer Iodoral, but in 12.5 mg tablets. The 50 mg tablets are easy to cut in half but kind-of difficult to cut into fourths. There are 30 tablets each 50 mg and I will sell them for $34.99/bottle with free shipping to US addresses. You will have to call the office at 1.866.618.2512 to order so that we can get your information. We take all cc’s except AMEX and also money orders. I appreciate this list, although, I must admit that it sometimes makes my head spin. And my specialty is hormone balancing for women!! The endocrine system is very intricate and it is very difficult to get everything “just right.” But then, I think all of you know that. Have a great day. Guest guest
Were you also supplementing with Vitamin C, magnesium and selenium? I wonder if that would have made a difference. Also, I think it is at least possible that you could be allegic to iodine. Dr. Brownstein says it is rare but does happen. Although my symptoms were different than yours, I was not able to take any iodine until I cleared iodine with NAET. Guest guest
I see a chiropractor here locally in CA but there are NAET practitioners all over. You can go to naet.com to find someone near you. Basically they muscle test you to see if you are sensitive to a substance. Then you just hold a vial of the stuff you are allergic to while they do the treatment. In my case it is acupressure but it can also be acupuncture. Then you avoid the substance for 25 hours. there is a bit more to it but that is basically it. Irene At 04:53 PM 11/9/2006, you wrote: Irene who did your NAET? What was involve. Guest guest
Ok, that sounds like a lady that e-mailed me after her first treatment at Dr. B's office. I was wondering if it was the same thing. We have NAET near me too. It is quite expensive. But isn't everything. Did it help you? I hesitate because I don't want to try one more thing that doesn't work. KWIM? Guest guest
Yes, it does sound very hoaxy to me too. A big money maker from desperate people looking for help. I've heard of this before, in fact I know someone who did this, and it was total bull as far as he was concerned. And he's a Cali guy, used to trying new and different things, too, very open minded. There are probably people who claim it worked for them though. How, is beyond me, but if they're better, great! I wouldn't try it myself though. --- Z <perennialgardener2003@...> wrote: > <<<Then you just hold a vial of the stuff you are > allergic to while they do the treatment>>> > > Hi, > I've heard of this treatment before, but didn't > know the name of it. Guest guest
I have the Say Goodbye to Illness book along with the NAET Companion guide. I have not read either but I suspect that they will offer some insight when I do get to them. You can see a little here at www.naet.com Re: Re: Side effects of Iodoral?? Guest guest
Yes it is helping. I was not able to take any form of iodine before and now I can so that is good. It did take two sessions though to clear the iodine. There are a lot of criticisms about NAET that it reduces your body's reaction to things but doesn't address the underlying issues. I don't really have an answer for that, just that it is nice to be feeling better while I look at underlying issues. Also everyone's experience is different so there really is no way of knowing what it will be for you until you try. I haven't finished the basics yet so the jury is still out for me but being able to take iodine is definitely a plus. Guest guest
hi Loretta I found your post very interesting. One thing I wondered is did you take 25mg 2X a day, or the full 50mg once a day? I felt the best on 25mg 2X a day. I really could not decrease the dose after 3 months and so am still taking 50mg after 10 months. Are you going to do the iodine loading test? Gracia I have wanted to write about my experience for a while now, but just now have had the time. .. No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Not Loretta, but I tried the 8 drops all at once for a few days & thought it was bothering my stomach, so I switched to 4 drops/2xday. That's worked out better. If you have a really sensitive stomach, or notice the taste of the Lugol's too much, I can't see any reason why you couldn't split it up into even 3 or 4 doses/day, if that was convenient for you. I think divided doses helps supply the iodine to the body more evenly, rather than having big ups/downs. Don't know how this affects (or doesn't affect) the therapy, but it seems a more moderate way to help keep the body in balance. My personal thoughts, anyway... > hi Loretta > I found your post very interesting. One thing I wondered is did you take 25mg 2X a day, or the full 50mg once a day? I felt the best on 25mg 2X a day. Guest guest
Hi Irene, > Yes it is helping. I was not able to take any form of iodine before and now > I can so that is good. Guest guest
Well, it would start with irritability, then anxiety and depression that would get progressively worse. At 1/2 iodoral per day, it would start after about a week and a half. When I took 2 iodoral per day it took about 3 days to start. It also happened when I was taking rejuvedine, but I don't remember how long it took. I would improve when I stopped the iodine. After my NAET treatments, I started with 1/2 iodoral per day and worked up to 2 iodoral per day which is what I am taking now. I have been taking iodine for almost 2 months now without a problem. Guest guest
Thanks Irene, > Well, it would start with irritability, then anxiety and depression that > would get progressively worse. I'm always curious about what can 'go wrong' when taking iodine since I had problems too. I'm glad your solution worked for you - I hadn't heard of NAET before. Did anyone ever try to explain your bad reaction? It sounds like possibly adrenal stress to me. Best wishes, Sharon
Guest guest
Well, I am not sure what you mean by explain it to me. But when I discussed it with my doctor he said he thought I was allergic to iodine and suggested NAET. As far as adrenal stress, does iodine cause adrenal stress? I must have missed that in the discussions. I have a lot of unread. Anyway, if it was adrenal stress, then it isn't happening anymore so I am glad about that.
