Guest guest
The adrenals do use Iodine but I have seen many of us have issues taking larger doses (over 25 mgs) of iodine if our adrenals are fatigued. It is best to support them with Vit C, Celtic Sea Salt (or other unrefined salt) and maybe a glandular product and if very severe you can get a rx for Cortef. I personally take Biotics Research Cytozyme AD for my adrenals. It is a neonatal bovine glandular. Here is a place to look at some articles on adrenals and iodine: http://www.iodine4health.com/body/adrenals/adrenals.htm Iodine and adrenals > Friends, > I am new to this group and am wondering if iodine is used successfully > in hypoadrenalism (adrenal fatigue). Guest guest
Hi . Thanks for this interesting post. I recently tried to go up to 50 mgs of Iodoral and couldn't handle it. I gave my body a break of 2 days but felt pretty hypo for the first time in a long time in those 2 short days, so then added just 25 mgs of Iodoral. I feel fantastic on 25 mgs. a day. Does it always mean that the adrenals are weak if a person can't handle 50 mgs? I wanted to get to that amount to shrink a parathyroid cyst but I feel so grand of 25 mgs that I plan to stay at that level until the old body tells me otherwise. I have done the adrenal pupils test, etc. and I really thought my adrenals were pretty good. I actually have no complaints right now on 3 grains of Armour and 25 mgs of Iodoral but the more I read hear and on the other thyroid groups, the more I worry about my adrenals! Should I worry if nothing seems to be wrong at the moment?? I take all the adrenal supplements but the Cortef. THANKS! Guest guest
You could have adrenal issues or you could have bromide detox issues. For me I had a bad bout and had to back off of the Iodoral and get a liver / kidney detox going. It may help you. Guest guest
Yes, that could be but what if everything seems hunkey dory on just the 25 mg? Are you saying that this good feeling won't last due to bad adrenals? Or maybe my body just needs 25 mgs? I am seriously confused about this issue. If I feel good on 25 mg, then do I need to worry about my adrenals? I hate to screw up a good thing, know what I mean? :-) Thanks, Annie/Texas PS all of my liver blood work looks very good, not sure if anyone has every tested my kidneys. -----Original Message-----From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of ladybugsandbeesSent: Wednesday, October 24, 2007 9:48 PMiodine Subject: Re: Iodine and adrenals You could have adrenal issues or you could have bromide detox issues. Guest guest
my adrenals did not recover b/c I still take cortef 5mg 4X a day, but they definately improved. my need for sex hormones has apparently diminished. BTW I am a former hyper but had a partial thyroidectomy. I have been on 50mg iodoral per day for almost two years. Gracia Friends,I am new to this group and am wondering if iodine is used successfully in hypoadrenalism (adrenal fatigue). Guest guest
Excellent advice again and I am learning so many amazing things from these discussion groups! I am blown away with what I am finding out about the human body! I get my supplements from Dr Baroody - he's kind of like our local 'Edgar Cayce' his website is holographichealth.com among many other supplements, they sell the original Edgar Cayce formula for Iodine called Atomidine. All of his products are so reasonably priced, gentle and effective. I have had zero side effects. Their adrenal support supplement has done wonders for me so far. I think I may have to up my dosage of the adrenal supplement for a while again. Things are shifting alot right now! Guest guest
You can't really go by labs for liver and kidney when it comes to detox. It may not show as bad but you can feel it. My brain gets foggy and I ache when they get "backed up". I just pop some Ultra Clear Plus pH and feel fine within hours. I felt great on 50 mgs but now am doing 100 mgs. It is pushing out bromide which is good because I need this halide out! So you have to decide if you want to "mess with a good thing". For me a little pain is gain. But I am dealing with cancer so it is important to me to detox as fast and safely as I can. Guest guest
Regarding healing the adrenals: I took 2 saliva tests for cortisol (over the last 4 yrs.) and both times came up low with cortisol. My most recent serum cortisol was low, although within normal ranges. Unfortunately, I had low cortisol symptoms for the past 6 yrs. and didn't treat it right away. And took Synthroid for 9 months (no Cortef)and probably further damaged my weak adrenals. So now I'm on Cortef 30 mgs., I do take Iodoral 4 tablets, Armour 2.5 grains (need to probably raise this soon), also. I had problems with my adrenals when I took only Iodoral, and eventually a doctor figured out that I need Cortef. I feel better since I started taking Cortef, along with Armour. I have read that it usually takes 1-2 yrs. on hydrocortisone (Cortef) to see if the adrenals will heal. In my humble opinion, you might consider some type of cortisol testing done to see if you need replacement- I think saliva may be the best. NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ is a good website to learn about adrenals. -

Guest guest
Hi Christa, I'm also curious about this product because I was aware of Dr. Baroody and his work. How long have you been taking it? Did you test your adrenals before and after taking the Feel Good supplement? What I'm wondering is, do you have an objective marker for improvement? There's nothing written on the website about it, which doesn't sit well with me. And I don't know why yam would be in there, which is usually for progesterone inprovement, or yohimbe which is used for male sexual health, or saw palmetto, for the prostrate. More thoughts, info appreciated. Rebekah Christa McClellan wrote: > > Dear > > Yes - the adrenal support by Holographic Health is called 'Feel > Good'. It had helped me tremendously. Guest guest
It has a lot of additional herbs (some not so well known) and nutritional supplements like L-Taurine, creatine, etc. Isocort is a glandular, like this product, not a pharmaceutical like cortef. That is my understanding. BTW, the doctor that recommended Baroody to me I highly respect. His name is Arden . He wrote Real Medicine, among other books. Guest guest
I was mistaken. Sorry. Isocort has cortisol hormone in it, supposedly 2 and 1/2 mg according to the Stop The Thyroid Madness website but it is available w/o prescription. The glandulars don't have the cortisol or just miniscule amounts. Then there is the cortisol itself as a synthetic (cortef) or natural hormone (which seems far superior to the synthetic). I have heard as well that healing the adrenals is done best with glandulars unless adrenal burnout is severe. However, glandular therapy can take months or years from what says in his book " Adrenal Fatigue! " I'm a newbie at this too trying to figure out which way to turn with supplementation....and how iodine may assist in the healing process. Rebekah Irene.M@... wrote: > > Isocort is also a glanular. Guest guest
Rebekah Everything I've read so far says it can take a long long time to heal the adrenals - I've been working on this for over 6 months, with some good progress - taking the 'Feel Good'. Guest guest
Rebekah - Dr Baroody lives in my area - he is retired from seeing patients now, but I am treated by the Dr that trained by Baroody, and who now treats Baroody. So I really only have Holographic Health model and methods, and my own subjective experience. which, btw, has really worked for me to measure my progress. I got all the 'standard of care' blood tests from an excellent internist before I started my holographic health supplements , which of course came out healthy and 'normal', but I felt like Crap! Baroody's office is the one who diagonesed all of my issues and has helped balance out everything!!! The only negative is that they arent 'medical' drs so my insurance wont cover the visits. Guest guest
Hi Karima. I just started reading Adrenal Fatigue and it is excellent! I cannot get over the photos he shows of oldtimes that were helped in the 1920s with Armour. The change in their faces are amazing! I lost 30 pounds once I got on Armour and lost my fat face in short order. What a relief that was. Pharmaceuticals and the alternative versions of them are used for quick hits. There are a lot of alternative medicine offerings that have the same exact thinking model that allopathic medicine does.Unless I need an emergency intervention, I work away at these things, most of them took years to develop and will take time to heal. There will be resources that can describe the length of time it takes adrenal tissue to heal once it received the support it needs.Karima However, glandular therapy can take months or years from what says in his book "Adrenal Fatigue!" I'm a newbie at this too trying to figure out which way to turn with supplementation....and how iodine may assist in the healing process. Guest guest
I have been taking low doses of Atomidine liquid, recommended by my naturopath. I had to raise my adrenal support at that time. before starting the Atomidine drops, I was down to 1/2 a tablet of my adrenal glandular supplement which is the lowest since I began this journey 9 months ago. after a few weeks on atomidine, I had to go up to SIX tablets of my adrenal support - a gigantic increase for me. after about 8 weeks using atomidine, I wanted to try the Iodoral, and took only ONE Iodoral tablet, and seem to have blown out my adrenals. That night was the worst insomnia ever for me, so now I am taking no iodine whatsoever and I am going back to the drawing board to try to heal my adrenals again none of my 'drs' told me this may happen with beginning iodine supplements, and I am learning by my own experience, and discussions on this forum. :/ Christa iodine From: artpages@...Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2007 06:34:40 -0800Subject: Re: Iodine and Hormone receptors/christa - potassium? Are you saying Iodorol stimulating the thyroid is causing too much load on the adrenals? Why did you name Iodoral? Is it worse for you that Lugol's or did you mean iodine in general?ThanksOn Nov 13, 2007, at 4:48 PM, Aprilcupcake@... wrote: Excess potassium can lower blood pressure enough to stimulate the adrenals. You mentioned having to up your adrenal support, so I thought you might betaking iodoral. Atomadine doesnt have potassium, it has chloride. Are you taking vitamin D supplements right now? Guest guest
This seems to be my day for posting, but this is the last one. I started with Iodoral, cranking up to 3 tabs [37.5 mg] day inside of 1 week. I'd been constipated for a while before I started the I, and had gone through a period of exhaustion [then I started eating significiant amts. of protein and the fatigue left!]. Within about a week I came down with a laundry list of what I later recognized as detoxing: bronchitis for 2 weeks. I thought I'd suddenly become a very old woman w/ lifestyle altering arthritis in hips/knee, back. Occasional acne-type bumps/redness. Strange state of mind - kind of happy and fine, but with no focus or ambition, couldn't get anything done, as if I were floating. Worse constipation. Occasional, spontaneous little cuts on backs of hands/fingers [felt like papercuts w/o the paper], they went away quickly each time. My throat would get irritated, kind of hurt, was a little sore-ish, in the back of the mouth/soft palate. There were a couple other things I don't recall at the time. When I stopped taking I it all went away - except the throat part, which came and went until I began the salt and Vit C. Then those symptoms remained gone. So what I'm saying is these were some big effects and they each [except for spontaneous cuts] were things I'd experienced at one time or another previously [except for that state of mind??? weird.] So the conclusion I've drawn based mostly on what I've read here - is I took too much too soon, I had a build-up of toxins [constipation] and was weak from overwork/undernourishment. All my body's chronic, susceptible areas were the first to react - they weren't able to process the toxins going through my system -- well that really is the key: the toxins weren't going through my system, they were getting stuck. Now I take a reduced amt. of Iodoral, which reduces the amt. of toxins being pulled out, thereby reducing the strain on my system. The salt and Vit C help whatever toxins were there to get on outa Dodge. It sounds like the recurrence of insomnia might be a similar detoxing - affecting your chronic weak spot. have a beautiful day M-S > > > I have been taking low doses of Atomidine liquid, recommended by my naturopath. Guest guest
Yes, ! I think that is a good 'rule of thumb' ==that one's detoxing is going to hit the weak spot(s) first, and hardest. for me, it is my adrenals that are my weakest(I have always been a sensitive, high-strung person that runs on 'nervous energy' .....If my dr had known this, this would not have been such a problem to try to correct, after the fact - I am learning most from these internet discussions! thanks, Everyone, for all the helpful posts.....
