Guest guest
Anyone ever notice that people who get the " flu vaccine " seem to get sick more often? I've never got one and I rarely get sick, but a few years ago when my mother got a flu shot, she seemed to be sick ALL winter that year. And that's not even mentioning the mercury content... Ever wonder why EVERY year there is a " shortage " ? Here in the U.S., we are short nothing that we are willing to pay money for... yeaaaah right. I'll pass, thanks... Just my 2 cents. ~Tamara
Guest guest
Last year was my first year to get one, and I didn't get sick once. First winter ever for me. I had always heard stories about it, much like your mother's, so was always wary. Don't know for sure it was the vaccine that kept me well, of course, but I am thinking of doing it again this year. I got mine at the pediatrician's office -- they did the entire family all at once. My kids did get the sniffles a couple of times but that is it -- it was our healthiest winter...... Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I am equally amazed to see your post (most people poo-poo anything that conflicts with what the standard nurse/dr says). I have a ton to say about the mercury content in vaccinations along with the ones that are given to children, but I don't choose to go on about it much to people who don't want to hear it. I'm not hear to convince anyone, just to share with people that even though drug companies, the news, nurses, and doctors tell you to do something, it doesn't always mean it makes you healthier (just as I don't know everything, neither do they I'm sorry to say). Mercury content IS a problem but fortunately it depends on who you are and how effectively your body disposes of waste (such as mercury) which means that most people will not be negatively affected by a vaccine. But on the chance that you might, just give it a second thought before getting one. Mercury is toxic... is even a " minisclue " amount of a toxin meant to be in our body? I would especially look into this further if you are a woman who is pregnant or plans to be pregnant anytime in the near future since babies are so fragile (I won't even go into that one). And to comment on Sandy's statistic on no one dying from mercury poisoning... how would you know? Do you know how difficult it is to test for mercury? It can hide in all sorts of places if your body does not get rid of toxins properly. Are you absolutely positive that this toxin does not affect people AT ALL? You may be, but I am not. ~Tamara
Guest guest
Tamara, your points are all very valid, of course. It's just that we all live in a world of *RISKS*, and each of us must decide the risk we prefer to take. The *RISK* of dying from the flu is much greater than the *RISK* of dying from mercury poisoning. The *RISK* of a child contracting and dying or being severely disabled from one of the childhood illnesses like chickenpox, measles, or hepatitis is much greater than the *RISK* of having trouble from the vaccination. The *RISK* of dying in an airplane accident is much less than the *RISK* of driving that distance. The *RISK* of leaving your home is much greatter than the *RISK* of staying in, and so on.. We all must choose our risks every day. And as far as toxins - let's not even go there! There are toxins everywhere in air, water, and industry. A small concentration of arsenic is allowed in most drinking water..certainly a small risk.. Again, we must all decide what risks to take. What a depressing thought... :-( Sandy > Hi Dawn, > I am equally amazed to see your post (most people poo-poo anything that conflicts with what the standard nurse/dr says). Guest guest
Well put Sandy. I agree with your point that there are decisions that we all have to make between potential benefits and risks. And I understand that for many people, the risk of sickness is worse than the risk of a vaccination (the elderly is a good example). However for the average adult and especially children, I do not agree that the benefits outweigh the risks when it comes to getting a yearly vaccination for a sickness that is HIGHLY unlikely to kill or permanently disable you (and you may not have even caught it in the first place!). Based on observation and research, it is my personal opinion that overall we are an overmedicated, overvaccinated country. This includes our water supply (fluoride and the mentioned arsenic). My point really is just to not believe everything you hear/read/see (including this)... be open to alternative methods (you don't have to do things just because everyone else does!) and research it for yourself. ~Tamara
