This is a story that is being blown out of proportion. There is one person that is telling this story and there are a few of us trying to get the truth. Before we play telephone any longer - remember the game where things get distorted the more they are told. We all need to take a breath.

My Dr said that in his 15 years of prescribing Armour he has seen Forest have manufacturing issues where they couldn't provide product many times.

I can add only one other factor to my own alarm at reading the original email...........

I just became a "statistic" last week; I've newly joined the ranks of "seniors" (very UNDERwhelmed by this inevitable event!)

I also lost my health insurance at the end of Sept '07 as the company went out of business, so I'm scrambling to get the necessary Plan D.

Guess what? Not one insurance company providing Plan D will cover Armour!

The so-called reasoning behind this rotten state of affairs is that because it's known as "Armour", it comes under the heading of a patented/named drug and can not be provided by a generic.

Well, how dandy-----I've been on Armour Thyroid for over 30 yrs and will now have to pay out of pocket or switch to something like a Synthroid generic. When hell freezes over I will!

If anyone on this list can point me to the cheapest source to get my Armour prescription filled, I will be very grateful. The only place I can think of (not online) is Walmart and that's a 1/2 drive. And Costco is not an option because of far greater distance.

Local CVS charges just under $40 per 100 tabs.

Backchannel would be great and not tie up the list

I have ordered all my Armour from www.drugstore.com with a script it is

the cheapest place I have found. They have always had it in stock too.

I just checked them out and they are the same price as

CVS. I now go to Rite Aid. I was paying $21.99 at CVS

and $20.49 at . When changed to Rite Aid

the price for thirty 180mg pills went down to $18.99.

Absolutely. W/o insurance you can fill as much as you want. Janie on the

Natural Thyroid Hormone group gets an Rx for a year and fills it all at

once. They may have to order it because they don't stock that much

normally.

Just had this come up Friday. If my doc had written for three months, yes, but the script is written for a 30 day supply with 2 refills. Next OV I will ask for a larger amount.

Some pharmacists will call the doc and ask to change the Rx for you. I'm requsting that in the am.

I emailed drugstore.com to ask if I could get all the refills at once to save on shipping cost. This is the reply from them :

"Thank you for writing to drugstore.com regarding filling your Armour Thyroid prescription.In response to your email, you would be able to fill the full amount of the prescription if you wished to save on shipping costs. When placing your order, you would need to indicate the quantity you wished to have dispensed to you."
