Guest guest
Hi I have had all of the symptoms of low adrenal reserve - with the most bothersome being unable to raise thyroxine/armour without getting really horrid internal shivering/diarrhea/insomnia/waking early feeling v anxious. However recent saliva results came back at over normal range in all but mid afternoon tests. 10 days into 1 grain, and suddenly my temp has shot up by a degree to normal (was around 36 two days ago, now 37) and I am getting the internal shivering again and waking feeling anxious. At the same time, my arms are tired from blow drying my hair and my joints ache. My pulse is slightly higher than my normal slow 63, but still normal at about 73 to 80. Same with my BP - normally around 100/65 but now about 110/75. The thing is I know it's not that I don't need thyroid meds as I had a TSH of 16 2 months ago on 100mcg thyroxine. It has been worse on Armour, but I did get some with thyroxine which did settle down. Last time I had to stop all meds for 2 weeks and kind of felt myself come down slowly. Has anyone had the same problem? What worked for you? Getting a really fed up and disillusioned at the moment as I don't seem to be making any progress and I'm feeling very isolated about all of it. Am starting to wonder whether I should just go back onto thyroxine, wait for it to work and accept my lot ( and poss the GP's depression anxiety diagnosis)... Any help/advice much appreicated Leah x
Guest guest
Hi Leah All I can really do is compare what I am doing. I have normal to high cortisol tea time and when should be low at night it skyrockets up, but low and under range morning and dinner time. What I do is I take adrenal cortex extracts (not medulla extracts) in the form of drops under my tongue 3 times a day morning to about tea time and if I get really stressed out I rub some hydrocortisone cream on my wrists (or other places if I want it to work longer like for sleep. Have you thought about your blood sugar, does eating a carb snack help you at all? I have been having horrendous times with glucose to the brain problems and the adrenalin shoots up to try and realease glucose from the liver if sluggish. Are you on optimum thyroid treatment yet? What supplements are you doing? So many questions lol. God bless hon Dawnx
Guest guest
Hi Dawn Thanks for replying. I am nowhere near optimum thyroid treatment at all. This is the problem - I am still feeling very hypo, I am only on 1 grain - and I am certain I need more. I have been taking Vit C, and CO Q10 and some multivitamins. I have tried Nutri Adrenal, and I have tried Adrenal Dynamite. The first made me feel awful, the second gives me niacin flushing after the 3rd dose both times I have tried it. I am pretty sure it's not related to my blood sugar - although ther have been diabetes question marks which have been ruled out. Have you had similar problems raising the armour? I'm wondering if maybe I am not tolerating the T3? I should add to this that I am one of the rare people who have lost weight not gained it since my TSH etc. went doolally. I just don't know what to do. My GP has no advice for me regarding Armour, and I feel so poorly still. I would go and see Dr P but he has no clinics remotely near me till the end of August. Guest guest
Hi Leah Have you read Shomon's "15 Reasons why your TSH may be Fluctuating" http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/tsh-fluctuating.htm Luv - sheila>> Hi> > I have had all of the symptoms of low adrenal reserve - with the most > bothersome being unable to raise thyroxine/armour without getting > really horrid internal shivering/diarrhea/insomnia/waking early > feeling v anxious. Guest guest
Hi Leole, Are you taking any adrenal support? You sound very much as if you need it. Don't give up some of us take longer to get it right than others. Subject: Has anyone had high cortisol results? Guest guest
Hi Leah Yes, high Cortisol, desperately in need of Thyroid Meds, Hypo diagnose from Dr P, but no thyroid meds work - been there, done that ! Also, like you say, extremely annoying - but don't give up. On last seeing Dr P after twelve months, he was wandering what on earth to do with me as nothing worked. He then suggested Natural Progesterone Cream for 'Oestrogen Dominance' syndrome and well, I shouldn't speak too soon, but been on it three months and although only taking a small amount of T3, 'something' has suddenly started to work, abiet slowing and I am sure it will take months, but I can put up if I can see progress. If you read up on Oestrogen Dominance, you will see amazingly that all the symptoms either cross over or are similar to Hypo T or low adrenal - the most important being if one's female hormones aren't balanced then Thryoid Meds cannot get into the cells and uptake properly. See what you think - only a thought, as everyone is different in the cause of their Hypo symptoms, hence the reason why GP's can't understand or interpret the TFT results we have that are all 'normal'. Good luck J Sent from . A Smarter Email.
Guest guest
Hi I can second that. The symptoms of estrogen dominance and hypoT do cross over. I started using natural progesterone cream in 2006 and after a while some of the symptoms of hypoT became less severe. Dr P told me to take Nutri Adrenal and other hypoT symptoms became less severe and a couple even stopped. This hypoT thingy is very time consuming unfortunately - all trial and error and wait and see. Me and the Nutri Adrenal did not get on well at first so I took a very low dose - half a tablet - and gradually increased over several weeks - I am glad I persevered. Guest guest
Hi You have no idea how pleased I am that you are beginning to see some improvement at last after all the months when nothing has worked for you at all. I am doubly delighted because, if you remember, it was me who questionned whether you were oestrogen dominant and needed to balance this out with some natural progesterone - so, if this was your previous problem, I am gonna give myself a big pat on the back. Seriously though, I hope you continue to make progress and that Dr P will, for the first time, see what a different person you are the next time he see him. Guest guest
Hi Lelole The anxiety is a problem with me yes, it started about 7 days after going up to 1 grain, I supplemented with adrenal cortex drops and hydrocortisone cream to get it up to 1 1/2 grains. I am holding here until I have my bloods done now, been on it a few weeks. I know I need it because I am able to do so many thinks I could not do before (breathe for one lol, absolute necessity ) I really think it is either blood sugar related or 'brain hypoglycema' which I am about to start researching. The doc has decided not to do my insulin and glucose tolerence test and he has said I have to try and convince a consultant to do it, so here I go again fighting grrrrrrrr.. they best be careful I bite lol. One thing I have realised through all this is there is far more to it than we realise before we embark on our treatments especially if you are on other meds prescribed by the doctor. Also I feel if your body has been limping along on inadequate treatment, actually getting the body going again can unmask problems you did not realise that you had, or problems which will only resolve over time once the body has everything it needs to heal itself. I have had some horrendous symptoms lelole and some terrible days both before and during trying the armour. Sometimes I panic about it, other times I just think, oh right, another darn symptom what can I do about this one? The only support I have is from the forum, nothing at all from the NHS which is really disgusting. I hope you can get better soon, research, research, questions, and trial within safe perameters is all we can do really. lotsa luv Dawnx
Guest guest
MODERATED TO REMOVE MESSAGE ALREADY READ. SHEILA ________________________ Hi all, many thanks to all of you who replied to my post a couple of days ago. I ahve two apologies firstly I wasn't able to reply because my broadband went down for a while. And secondly, it appears that I may have jumped the gun a bit! My temperature stayed high for a couple of days and during that time I felt AWFUL - really achey all over and exhausted so of course I thought - ADRENALS...and panicked because I was so worried I would go toxic again and have to give in and go back on thyroxine. However it all returned to normal (well not normal, but back to usual low 36's temp) over the last few days, so think it may have been I was actually running a temperature for some reason! So things are going OK again now, and I have been taking an extra 1/4 grain for the last 2 days with no ill effects. So thank you all so much for being so kind and trying to help!!! Next time I'll try not to panic at the first sign of adversity... LOve Leah x >
Guest guest
Hi Dawn I've half replied on the other post - the upshot being - I'm fine! Whatever caused it resolved on it's own quite quickly. I think you are right it is such a complicated thing, and so many of the hormones that control the body are delicately interlinked, that sometimes I feel like we are trying to fix a delicate instrument with a lumphammer! I am also so grateful to this forum and the support I get here as I do feel otherwise completely alone... I'm glad you have been feeling better (breathing is good!) as it sounds like you've had it particularly rough... When's you blood test? Good luck with it.. Guest guest
Long may it continue Leah - I sincerely hope this is the start of your new road to better health. Things can only go up from here after you have been down for so long.
