Guest guest
Kem, friend, so sorry you are struggling! With all this horrible hot weather, be sure to get in the fluids - at least 100 cc a day. If you are dehydrated at all, you'll have some water retention and this will add " weight. " Being tight in the morning is a clue that you are perhaps dehydrated. Have a couple of glasses of water 1 hr before bedtime to stay hydrated during the night, and a cip of tea first thing in the morning, before eating. How is your exerecise? Have you been able to do some varied and regular exercises and weight trining, so that you have built some good muscle ny now to turn your body into a more efficient fat- burner? After 6-12 months of banding, many people start to stall out if they have not built muscle. Never too late to get goping again, if you need to. I'd really advise against lower than 1200 cal. You're trying to nortmalize your metabolism, and this takes a good calorie intake that will not threaten your body. TRying to stay lower will only cause it more stress, and it will refuse to lose. This may be what is going on. you may need a few weeks or more of more calories to get your body feeling safe again. Also, people who are consistently lower than 1200 DO regain later when they increase it a bit (no one can stay at 1200 or less forever). You may need a larger intake for a month or so before your body relaxes and is not afraid of you! As far as the cravings, they can be worse if you are protein defificnet at all. Be sure you're getting enough. Also, plan your eating for the whole day, and include heathy snacks. If you're eating regular meals with a good, planned small snack between, you will not have time to be tempted. Like: breakfast, protein snaack like nonfat, light yogurt at 10-11, lunch, snack at 3-ish, dinner, snack at 8- ish. Lots of fluids betwwen. Hope this helps! Sure wish we dodn't all have these periods of stalls! Guest guest
Hi there, you should try jello sugar free pudding with real whipped cream on top (I HATE cool whip). It's delicious. Guest guest
Kem, here's my favorite: (I think I posted this before, but it was a while ago) pop 4-5 peanuts in your mouth along with one Viactiv chocolate calcium " chew " and you will swear you are eating a Snickers bar, but without the guilt! It takes a minute or two to chew this up thoroughly and by then my sweet tooth shuts up. Good luck! Does anyone have any > low calorie suggestions to help with the sweet tooth? Guest guest
Oh - big sweet tooth problem here - I love those italian tri-color cookies... I let myself have one or two once a week - doesn't screw up my 2lb/week loss and doesn't make me feel like I can't have them at all. It's a little reward. I weigh in on thursdays and if I lost that week, I have a cookie with my coffee that day - so I can be bad once a week - like they say " so long as you're good 90% of the time, you're ok " . Everyone if different - that's just my way of dealing with the cravings. Another thing - those 40cal fudgsicles - liquid calories - but only 40 of them - keeps your chocolate cravings under control. Just don't overdo it. But they are a good alternative to ice-cream and chocolate, they are pretty rich in taste too. Also, you can try weight watchers mocha bars - also ice-cream, also full of flavor, with not as much guilt. Mariya > Does anyone have any > > low calorie suggestions to help with the sweet tooth? Guest guest
Don't be fooled by " SUGAR FREE " ! " Sugar free " things are made for diabetics, who cannot have SUGAR. these products are sweetened with things other than sugar, and these things often have even more calories than sugar itself, which is only 15 cal per tsp. For instance, the Jello sugar-free chocolate pudding has 200 cal per cup (with lofat milk), and adding real whipped cream adds even more calories. Sorry to be a party-pooper!! We have to read labels very carefully, and calories will always count for us, sadly. Sandy R > Hi there, you should try jello sugar free pudding with real whipped > cream on top (I HATE cool whip). Sandy R The other thing to watch carefully for is " portion size " . One of those 79 cent bags of chips is TWO servings. Yeah, right. A package to two Twinkies, or Hostess Cupcakes, or Snowballs, etc, is TWO servings. Who the heck ever ate just ONE twinkie...unless mom MADE you give one to your little sister? Yeah, I'll just have ONE twinkie and put the other away for later. Sure. We all did that ALL the time. dan Dan Lester, Boise, ID honu@... www.mylapband.tk Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana, 4/28/03 323/209/199 Age 62 Fair is whatever God decides to do. Guest guest
I was referring to the Jello brand sugar free pudding in the cup that's already preportioned for you. I believe it has approx. 60 calories. And the real whipped cream on top of that little cup is just an nth of your daily intake of calories, fat, sugar, whatever. Land O'Lakes even makes a whipped cream sweetened with splenda. I've done extremely well with it and I highly recommend it to satiate a sweet tooth. And the low-fat milk you speak of, are you talking of 1%, 2% or skim? If you're speaking of the 1 or 2%, you can always use skim and it'll cut the calories. Much better than a candy bar, ice cream, or the like. Lacey > > Hi there, you should try jello sugar free pudding with real whipped > > cream on top (I HATE cool whip). Guest guest
Kem, Popsicle brands make a sugar-free popsicle (5 cals) as well as creme sicle (25 cal - I think) and fudgesicle (another 25 cal - I think).... and they package them in the variety box so you can get all 3!!! I generally buy the large boxes of the regular s/f popsicles, but I saw this one the other day and decided the variety is nice! Since banding, the s/f popsicles have become my treat of choice!!! They're cheap (calorie wise and about $4 box money wise), and if I want 2 or 3 because it's really hot outside or I'm particulary stressed and have the emotional " need " to eat, I can eat them. I have never been able to eat more than 2, maybe 3, in about a 30 minute period and since they are about 2 oz each of basically frozen liquid, it helps my fluid intake for the day.
