Well, good info Sandy. Of course that's what I'd expect. I'd not seen Dr.

's website, and it answers my confusion. He's in BOTH Santa Barbara and

Ventura (an area I know well from family living there). He also regularly goes

up to Truckee which can be helpful for those in the Reno/Sacramento/Gold Country

areas.

is Riverside far away for you? See this email from somebody in North Ca.

" Several times I've seen posts about looking for a good Souith band

doctor to help with fills, band replacement, etc. Dr. Krahn is

my original band surgeon even thou I live in North CA. I come down

periodically for him to deal with my band. He is VERY band friendly to

any band patient with any issue and his support groups are open to

everybody.

His offices are in Riverside/San bernardino - 951 3525643. Just tell

him Barb sent you.

I have an appt.on June 5th and will ask again for a slight unfill

and if I am denied I will ask the Dr. to document his refusal in my

chart. I think that should help but I will have to see.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions from everyone.

Sharon,

if you can wait till June 5, you may not be so badly tight. I know people that

had posted on the board that they can't drink and are dehydrated.

What are you symthoms? have you tried hot tea before meals?

I'd not only ask him to document it on chart, but to also give you a reason, in

writing, so you can take it to another doctor for a second opinion. So where

does Quilici practice? How many bands has he done? Is he mainly a bypass doc?

As a patient of one of the two top docs in TJ, Dr. Ortiz, and as a very big fan

of the other, Dr. Kuri, I can almost guarantee you that either of them would

help you out. No, won't be free, but neither will Dr. be. Both of them

are great, have super " bedside manner " , wouldn't leave you too filled, and would

evaluate you under fluoro. It is always possible that there is a problem other

than just being too tight.

Personally, I wouldn't wait another week. Are you still getting in at least two

quarts of water a day? What other symptoms/problems do you have? Why do you

feel you're too tight? (I'm NOT doubting you, just wondering what the

particular issues are)

WOW, I feel bad for you.

Yes, INMEDIATELLY you need an unfill.

Too bad you can't go to TJ, they do it with flouroscope and then they will

know about how good food is going down.

DO NOT EVEN GO TO THAT DOCTOR AGAIN.

Try the other one in Riverside. But i do not know him personally.

have to do protein shakes and supplement as well.Thank goodness for

that or I would probably be sicker than I am. I am lightheaded, tired

I can only eat 1/2 c.That has 100 calories for 1c.I often don't eat

more than the protein shakes and my serving of greek yogurt.I am

probably eating between 5-800 calories a day including my shakes.I

am so frustrated with trying to eat and then dealing with the pain

and slime I pretty much stay to just these few things as they cause

the least amount of trouble.

You should try the Minimally Invasive Surgery Group at Cedars Sinai in Los

Angeles. They did the clinical trials and have extensive Lap Band experience.

They use the flouroscope for all fills. My doctor is fantastic and his

name is Dr. Cunneen.

Good Luck.

Sharon, I have a fill scheduled for the 16th with Dr. Kuri in TJ Mexico. I live

a little over an hour from TJ in Lake Elsinore. If you would like to come here

and ride with me I would be happy to escort you through the TJ thing and see if

Dr. Kuri will give you aftercare, we can get a flouro and see what is going on

to determine if you need an unfill. The chances of anything happening are slim.

We go down, take the Mexicoach over, go to the hospital and come back.

If you would like, let me know and I will help you out.

Hi Sharon,

I hope this is not to late. I read your post over the weekend and was

unable to respond at that time. I have read the thread and understand you

had an appointment yesterday.

I just made an observation that you may not have considered. Since you are

a band over bypass patient changing doctors just because they are a band

doctor may not be a great idea. I am a band patient, but my husband is a

band over bypass patient (RNY in 199, band over in 2005). Believe it or not

this does make a difference in your care. Some will say it doesn't, some

will say it shouldn't, but from what we have seen it truly does. You have

spoken of problems with reflux and being tight etc. Your reflux and

tightness are really a different cause than with just a band. The reason,

you really aren't supposed to be able to reflux acid because of the RNY.

This may also be the reason why your doctor doesn't want to take any fill

out. I know it sounds crazy and you as the patient has to live with this,

BUT he may see you as wanting the fill out to eat. I know, I know it's not

right, but again, this is what he sees. Not defending his actions, because

me, I probably would have lost it a long time ago. As I have with my doc

when I had a slip. This is the reason you probably want a band doctor who

has performed band over bypass AND successfully is treating them.

I know that you were considering possibly going to TJ, try Dr. Ortiz. He is

the first doc to do band over bypass and has had great success and many many

band and band over bypass patients. He actually flew here for my husbands

surgery in 7/05. He is an awesome doc. I am not sure about Dr, Kuri, if he

has any band over bypass patients. I have only seen him mention on just

band patients. So I am not saying don't go see him, I just know Dr. Ortiz

is always introduced as one of the pioneers in the band over bypass arena.

Please keep us posted. I really hope you feel better. Hubby and I know how

you feel!
