I started on Monday and by Wednesday I was freaking out. Headache, jitters, but so tired. Weird wiggy feeling and the pain in my neck with the heaviness. The wiggy subsided on Thursday bet the heavy feeling is still there and my neck has the weird tingly twinges off and on. Still feels tight too. I wonder if the lymph glands take it up too. Guest guest
I also had a hard time at first, some headaches, but all has setled down and I think it's very helpful. I remembered that iodine would move toxins out of tissues and cause some discomfort. GraciaThat is a big dose to start! I think everything in my neck is sensing the iodine. I feel tingly in my ears, the back of my head..my face..and all the way to my collar bone. I think it strange that such a very tiny dose made me feel like this.Missy> > I am taking that 50 mg Mega dose too. LOL! I started on Monday and by Wednesday I was freaking out. I noticed a little tingling and tightness in my neck, but nothing like yesterday! I went back to my 4 1/4 grains of Armour today with no problems at all. I will remember about the toxins.. it doesn't sound like much fun.Missy<<< Dr. B has me on a Buffered C product that has calcium and magnesium in it to help with the detoxification process. It tastes awful and makes my stomach queasy but it seems to help with the Iodine (Iodoral) effects I was feeling. Buist
Guest guest
I'm taking plenty of vitamin C, but getting headaches & generally yucky feeling. I've got Cal-Mag ordered--sure hope it helps! I'm only taking 2-3 drops of Lugol's! Deborah ladybugsandbees wrote: > >>>>It has been much better today, the 1 drop of Lugols. Guest guest
I found that the probs resolved when I went to the full loading dose 50mg. I think too low a dose might create more probs. Autoimmune is just low adrenals IMHO so that might have to be treated as well, but I think Missy is doing that (don't forget DHEA). GraciaThat helps me to know that you felt wired at first too. So I guess I will stay on my one drop for now. my neck feels heavy under the jawbone too. Funny tingly burning feeling strange..Interesting about the increased saliva and wonderful for you!!Thanks for reassuring me, . Guest guest
I may try that in the future, Gracia, but I've been reminded that iodine suppresses estrogen and I'm way past menopause and I was considering starting transdermal estrogen ... then it got even more suppressed after only 2 days of 3 drops (following one week of one drop and one week of two drops). I didn't get to sleep until nearly 5AM last night, which is the final indicator to me to back off the Lugol's until I've got more estrogen to play with. Guest guest
OH. Iodine suppresses estrogen? I use 2.5mg estradiol 2X a day (in olive oil). Guest guest
Okay then, it makes for less estrogenic activity in my body. Mine was already on the low side, even before starting the iodine. Are you saying that menopausal women shouldn't replace any estrogen??? We're not talking fertile woman here--we're talking menopause at 34, and it's 13 years later. First estrogen does not suppress thyroid function, it BINDS thyroid hormones. And low estrogen will affect much more or your body than just the breasts! It is called quality of life. When you are waking 10 times a night from night sweats and hot flashes, estrogen replacement is needed. It will not bind too much thyroid unless it is in excess. The body is able to compensate for this with normal amounts of estrogen present, and when it doesn;t it is due to underfunctiong thyroid which is why some of us take thyroid replacement. It is a delicate balance to be sure, but to allow your body to become too low in estrogen is not the answer either. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I looked carefully at that study and I don't think the authors proved the case . Unfortunately they did not measure estrone or estriol. Iodine has been shown to direct estrogen metabolism toward its more benign form -- estriol. Since they didn't measure the other two forms of estrogen -- it is not clear that estrogen was suppressed or just redirected. They for some obscure reason don't seem to think that the component of kelp that might be responsible for their results -- namely iodine -- was.LizOn Mar 28, 2006, at 5:16 AM, sharflin wrote: Check out the studies on kelp by the Vandevoort on women and rats.
