Guest guest
I'm here! I was just about to send a update on my heartburn. None at all today. I haven't eaten my trail mix for breakfast in 2 days. Maybe it was the nuts! deb in New Orleans P.S. It's back up now, but I'm not getting mail from the ER4YT list, so just wondered if you guys are just being quiet today, or if there's still something wrong with my system. Guest guest
Hey ! What are you doing out of bed? Elevate the head, drink lots and lots and lots of water to clear out those lungs (luke warm or warm, not cold), stick to clear fluids, no dairy or cream foods and rest. Keep a jug of soup or water next to your bed. Now, snuggle up with anything cuddly, but not another sickie, and rest. I don't know where everyone else is either, I think they must all be off exercising really hard and stuff....probably....hmmmmmm Love el

Guest guest
> I don't know where everyone else is either, I think they must all be > off exercising really hard and stuff....probably....hmmmmmm On Thursday, between battling my email problem, arguing via email with my brother, who *swears* the file he sent me wasn't infected or carrying ad-ware or spy-ware, laundry (ugh), the kid's schoolwork, and taking a stab at some housework (it stabbed back so I quit while I was ahead), I didn't get too much computer time before Henry was ready to steal the computer for his nefarious purposes - downloading even *more* music files! At least when he gets his acceptance to the engineering college, each freshman student gets a fully loaded, state of the art PC. At least I'll get my computer back in September. I can't complain too much - at his age I must have spent every penny of my allowance of 45's (and cigarets). Kids now don't have to spend even that, just download the song and burn a cd of their favorite tunes, all for the few cents it costs for a blank disc. Ah, technology! Guest guest
> <PRE>Hi It's Monday evening and I haven't received a post all day Tuesday morning now, and all of seemed pretty quiet on Monday. I took advantage of that to fix my Outlook Express and wait for my main ISO's mail servers to come back up (I *hope* it's all fixed now fixed). Now I have to figure out where a few hundred meg of disc space went. The kid was doing something the other day, plus I did a few downloads, but I don't think they took up *that* much room! As for weight loss - 2 pounds up, 2 pounds down. Nothing ever changes. Exercise: Yesterday I dragged out some old videos. Started off with Sandy Duncan 5 Minute workout, went to a few monutes of 's first video (he's so *young* in it!) and finished up with Do It Debbie's Way with Debbie Reynolds. I think with all the aggravation I've been going thorugh the past few days with this computer, maybe I'll do some tai chi today. I hope everyone else is having a better time of it than I am. Guest guest
Well, I gained a pound this week. Grrrrr..... I did pretty well for 5 weeks but last week I couldn't keep it together and slid back into some old habits. I still managed to avoid fast food though which is a major downfall of mine. This is so darn hard!! I had a healthy day Sunday which was a great motivator. I've been doing ok but not great since then. How do you all control your appetite? I truely believe that my " full switch " is not like a normal sized person. When I was pregnant I would eat a little and feel full. I thought, Wow! so that's how it's supposed to work. I can eat a huge amount of food without feeling full, even after 5 weeks of eating healthy. What do you do to combat this? Start the meal with healthy filling stuff like veggies and finish with entree? It's hard to fight physiology along with psychology. I know my problem is a combination of both. Guest guest
>I still managed to avoid fast food though which is a major downfall I haven't even been *near* a MickeyD's since the kid started going to college every day. One of the hazards of homeschooling was him asking every few days to go there for lunch. Now, if he wants a burger or fries, he eithr grabs them on campus from the cafeteria or he has 3 different McD's to choose from at his transfer stations on the way home. I *do* miss eating his leftover fries, though. > How do you all control your appetite? I truely believe that my " full > switch " is not like a normal sized person. That's always been my problem. I can eat the healthiest foods in the world, but I just eat so darn much of them! I've tried all the hints - drink water between bites, chew each mouthful 30 times (try chewing spagetti 30 times!), putting the fork down between mouthfulls, taking at least 20 minutes to eat one plate of food. So it now takes me an hour to eat the same amount of food, and I'm usually *still* not satisfied. I can sit there after eating 2 or more servings and right there at the table my stomach will rumble as if I hadn't eaten in hours. My husband yells at me, telling me to eat more, that obviously I didn't eat enough if I'm still hungry. I've read that if we eat smaller portions all the time, eventually our stomachs, being muscles, will " shrink " so less food will fill us. Well, that never happened around this house, even when I ate so little it was under 1000 calories a day. I guess people like me are just freaks of nature. Hi ann, I would suggest drinking a lot of water while you are cooking and eating a very large salad before you take the first bite of dinner. The salad trick is how I manage to eat pizza without losing control...I eat a salad the size of a serving bowl while I am waiting for the pizza guy. Rae 260/163.5/140-150??? Come on, I hope didn't wipe everyone out... No, we're still here. We spent the morning shovelling out the 2 cars & warming them up, this afternoon warming *ourselves* up. > Let's all get going and chat - we can all use the support I am sure! This has been a bad weekend, food-wise, after doing pretty well all week. At least now that my cars are out, tomorrow I have to start hitting the grocery stores to stock up again, little by little. I can only carry 2 bags up these 3 flights of stairs at a time, so it's gonna take a lot of trips. At least this week's menus are already made out utilizing foods already in the house, so if we get snowed in again before I'm fully stocked I'm still okay. We have *plenty* of beans and brown rice and other whole grains around here, and the freezer still has about 2 - 3 more weeks worth of frozen veggies. As for exercise, I got enough today shoveling. Guest guest
> Been busy. Also been depressed. Well, it's been a lousy few months for you, and the past month couldn't have been good, not with the weather and the deaths of your neighbor's parents. I don't know if you've been able to leave your house, but you've got to make an effort to get some fresh air and natural light. Tomorrow, get out of there and roam around the property, walk around the block, or just hang out in your back yard feeding stale bread to birds for a while. Living in New Hampshire during this gloomy weather, you're probably suffering a bit from SAD - not standard American diet this time, but Seasonal Affective Disorder, a super bad case of winter blues. >Then something happens I feel down again. BUT I can say I am not > giving in to it. Good for you! Even something as small as a phone call or email to a friend will help. Try move your favorite chair closer to a window, or stand by a window while talking on the phone so you get more natural light may help, too. >AND get my brita filled. I just changed my filter last week. It goes so *fast* with all the water we drink in this house! Timer just dinged - gotta go. Guest guest
Rumbly in my tumbly, and I'm not talking cuz it's hungry! I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired! *sigh* I woke up several times last night and made a couple of mad dashes to the toilet, and it still continues. Last nights dinner had made it's way out by 9am and pretty much looked the same comming out as it did going in. (I know TIM). I'm still feeling icky and have to go get the girls in a bit from brownies, get something for dinner and then head up to bed early I think. At least the rotten egg burps are *finally* gone. Nope I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary and nope, no one else in the house is sick, just that strange thing that I get from time to time. Hopefully I will be back to normal. I had even set out my exercise clothes last night to put on this morning to get on the treadmill. Tomorrow....... a
