I would try looking at www.ebay.com for good deals on supplements. They are

mostly in US dollars, but you will save A LOT of money. The supplements are

mostly sold by nutition stores looking to sell over-supply and old stock.

Take a look.

Welcome to the group, Judy! I don't know how many members we have from Australia -- at least one from Melbourne. I used to live in Armidale, NSW.

I'm glad you were able to get Lugol's. Can you get it without a prescription in Australia?

I don't know about Betadine and the patch test. There is so much unknown about the patch test, iodine absorption through the skin, etc. Interesting to hear your results.

Zoe

I have just joined your group, am not new to thyroid/adrenal problems but new to the Iodine. I live in a very small town in Northern NSW (Australia) which has only one pharmacy, when I went there for the iodine to do the skin test was told that they can't sell it anymore. Had to resort to the only Iodine in the house which was Betadine (10% W/V Povine iodine equivalent to 1%W/V available Iodine), so hope that this one was okay.

I did the test which lightened in 4 hours but had completely disappeared by 9 hours.

I have been able to purchase the Lugol's solution from a pharmacy out of town and I aim to start today to take 1 drop which I will increase to 2 drops in the next few days if no side effects.

Do know that I have adrenal/thyroid problems but can't get help with treatment because my TSH levels are always "within normal" last test they were 1.2. I am trying to find an alternate Doctor who will help me treat myself.

It's a small world Zoe....I live in Walcha, just a short trip from

Armidale. Couldn't get e Lugol's in Walcha, so got a pharmacy in

Armidale to get it for me, was no trouble for them, and no I didn't

need a script.

I have thyroid & adrenal issues but as my thyroid tests are always

normal am finding it hard to get treatment, have low saliva tests for

the adrenal testing but am trying to get into a Dr at Wauchope, but

there is a waiting list.

Thanks for the welcome.

Judy, My thyroid labs were always normal too but finally a doctor

started me on Armour based on my body temperature. I'm still not

sure what kind of thyroid problem I really had, but it has been in

check since starting iodine. I'm off the thyroid meds. Maybe iodine

will help your thyroid situation as well? Best wishes!

Hi Sharon,

I was diagnosed with sick euthyroid syndrome and given T3 to

take...had 3 months of remarkable health then the crash, due I

found out later on to, adrenal problems. I had saliva test s done

the Doc sid normal, but it wasn't, it was lower than the range for

that time of day. I found the Isocort last year and had a good

response to that but at the time couldn't find the armour to take,

when stablisied on the Isocort.

My body temps are really low like 35.7 - 36.2 early early in the

morning, but occasionally have periods when I really feel hot and my

face is flushed, my lips and below the mouth seem to look blue and

when I take my temperature then it was 34.2 and another time 34.4,

so feel that my adrenals need treating first. BTW I have some

armour now and am just waiting to get my adrenal system fixed before

I start taking it.

Am really hoping that the Iodine works but am going at it very

slowly and carefully as some things have a reaction with me, even

vitamins.

Hi Meleese,

I rang the Amcal pharmacy in Armidale and they got it in for me

overnight, it was only $18.75 or thereabout so it wasn't expensive,

as you only start on 1 drop a day and only increase to 2 a day,as

far as I can gather.

Hi Judy,

I have adrenal problems too. When I started on iodine I did feel it

was putting stress on my adrenals for a month or more. If I was

motivated to go see my doctor perhaps he would have upped my adrenal

support, but I suspect he would have tried to get me to stop the

iodine so I didn't go see him. I just pressed on and eventually it

got better. That said, I certainly don't think that is the best plan

for others! I just felt like I could take it after years of adrenal

support and that this iodine deficiency was getting in the way of my

full recovery and had to be taken care of. But for others at

different stages I just mention my situation because in my

experience it was a bit hard on my adrenal glands. So trust your

intuition!

Best wishes,

Sharon

Hi Meleese,

I just used a Betadine swab as I had a packet of them in the house,

did try to get the tincture of Iodine but was told that they can't

sell it anymore.

Cheers,
