Based on the links you kindly provided and your advice (and Gracia's), I changed my dosing to 3 times a day, 5mg a.m., 5mg. around noon and 2 1/2mg. around 5 or 6 p.m.--for now. Does this make sense to you? By charting, I am noticing slight but definite improvements in pulse, pressure and temps. I also notice that I am better later in the day--say, after 4 p.m. Is that typical? Thank you for your help, Dahlia
Guest guest
no I take 25mg Iodoral 2X a day. gracia >From: "Gracia" <circe@...>> I love licorice and eat it whenever. I take cortef 5mg 4X a day. Now >on Iodoral I find that I can space cortef a bit more and take last dose >around 10-11pm.Hi Gracia, I am trying the Cortef spaced out through the day and am noting a definite, though gradual, rise in temps, blood pressure and pulse. Thank you. Just curious: do you take Iodoral once a day? Dahlia No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. So, it's likely that if one has 's Disease, when they go on HC, they'll gain weight, because it was the disease that caused the problems. If you stopped months ago, it shouldn't be affecting you currently. After all the big fear of low doses (but not high doses) seems to be the doctors worry about suppressing adrenal function, and it not being able to start again. With some conditions, you gain weight because you're getting better. Guest guest
I don't think this dosing will be a recipe for success. Better to take 5mg 4X a day. Guest guest
I gained most of my weight on cytomel by itself. I thought t3 had a reputation for helping people to lose weight... not gain. But I've heard from others who experienced weight gain too from t3 alone. I'm doing better on Armour. Armour provides a broader spectrum of hormones (1,2,3,4, & calcitonin). You can always post a message to the STTM board for an experienced opinion about your free t values, etc. g siddiqui wrote: I've been on 60mcg of T3 twice a day for 10 years. Considering most people need a few grains of armour this is an enormous amount. It does make me wonder if I need more though! -------------------------- Perhaps the HC "uncovered" latent hypothyroidism (over-stressed a barely adequate thyroid function) -- and that is now causing the weight gain ? Perhaps you needed both HC and thyroid replacement ? No. I'm not saying I'm off for good, but maybe I am. In the doses Jeffries suggested, it's not the evil that most doctors think it is. >are you going to recheck that AM cortisol to see if its looking good >now too? that would be an interesting comparison. Not really interested. I suspect I'll know if I need Cortef again. After all, specfic symptoms went away and never returned while I was on it. If they start to come back, I'll know why. > >I did recheck the HPA axis suppression and nighttime doses...and the >literature does indicate that nighttime doses suppress the morning >secretion of cortisol...however in general i would say they were >referring to far larger doses than 5 mg...more pharmalogic doses. >cindi Yes, and the larger dose you take, the more likely it is to suppress the HPA axis for that period of time, which I suspect is good reason to not exceed 5 mg at any one time during the day. I understand there is a rhythm to cortisol production, but if your adrenals aren't dead, why not let them go through it like they are supposed to?
