Guest guest
Hi Jin It gives them lots of energy for older dogs. Since we use nascent iodine, we put it in a treat so they get full benefit. With Lugols some folks just add a drop to the water bowl. You can sure see a difference in their energy level. --- groupiestuff <groupiestuff@...> wrote: > Anyone have any info on the use of Iodine with Dogs? > > Thanks, > jin > > > > > > > > Thanks, hire john@... www.magnascent.com ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hi , Do you base it on weight? I rescued a 10 year old dog Shih Tzu that is 14lbs. I don't want to overdo it. I wish he could gargle with some Lugols cause his teeth are getting bad. And I can't load him up with Vit C, celtic salt etc for detoxing. Guest guest
I have used Lugols on 6 week old miniature Dachshund puppies with parvo.I put 1 drop of Lugols in 1cc of water for each puppy and I saved 3 out of 4 puppies with this, the vets don't even save that many. For those of you that don't raise dogs,Parvo is a deadly virus......Barbara > > Anyone have any info on the use of Iodine with Dogs? > > Thanks, > jin >
Guest guest
I also know of a woman who cured her girl dog of pyometra using iodine/iodide 25-50mg per day for a few weeks. I give 1-2 drops Lugol's in my dogs' food every day. Guest guest
Sam, How much does your doggie weigh? Thanks, jin > > I also know of a woman who cured her girl dog of pyometra > using iodine/iodide 25-50mg per day for a few weeks. > > I give 1-2 drops Lugol's in my dogs' food every day. > > Sam > (thyroidless/ovaryless) > > > > > > > > Anyone have any info on the use of Iodine with Dogs? > > > > > > Thanks, > > > jin > > > > > >
Guest guest
I have Basenjis (18-25lbs) and a Greyhound (55lbs). In general I start all dogs on 1 drop 5% Lugol's in food. If they are hypOthyroid they end up on 2 drops daily for life (unless they appear to need more than 2 drops). If they are in relative good health they stay on 1 drop per day. I know someone local who has a neutered hypO (on Soloxin - doggy synthroid) diabetic (insulin dependent) Basenji with diabetic cataracts. He will be starting on Lugol's ASAP and work up to 2 drops 5% Lugol's per day. I know it will definitely help the hypO and possibly the diabetes, but don't know if it will do anything for the cataracts. I am absolutely delighted at what this is doing for the dogs. Guest guest
I have a Chihuahua (3.8 lbs.) and a cat (12lbs?) that drink from the same dish. Could I just put 1-2 drops a day in their water dish? They are both healthy and of course the Chihuahua is VERY active :-) Thanks, JanieIf they are in relative good health they stay on > 1 drop per day. Guest guest
Thanks, Val Actually, I've had one thyroidless Basenji (rabies shot OD destroyed her thyroid) who did quite well on desiccated Bovine thyroid. I am just not a fan of Soloxin (don't ask me for my opinion of synthroid - it's real bad <wink>). I've not had one dog I've bred that was spayed/neutered that did well on it at all. And I've been in Basenjis since 1979! I truely wish I would have known about Lugol's and Iodoral years ago as I may have saved some of them from their fates. I have to say that it is simply amazing at how well the dogs have responded on Lugol's. I have a 13 year old who still acts like a puppy! Guest guest
Yea, that works. Did you know iodine has been used to purify water? http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3912/is_200501/ai_n9478285 Sam > If they are in relative good health they stay on > > 1 drop per day. >

Guest guest
Hi folks, I have an idea that might work to get them used to it slowly. You could add one drop to a glass of water, any size, stir, and then add a portion of mixture (say 1/4) in their water bowl. Then once a week increase to 1/2, then 3/4 of mixture. Sneeking up on them might work (or not (o;). Watching them to make sure the kitty is drinking. ~ > > > > I don't know thta I would do that as cats especially are VERY picky > > about the taste of their water and will dehydrate if they do not liek > it. > > > > -- > > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > > > >
Guest guest
I may have an unusual cat—she prefers MY water to hers. (She goes absolutely nuts for almond bearclaws too.) I drink water from a large Brita container to which I add two drops of iodine to prevent the eventual trace of mold between the top resevoir and the primary one. (Tis a pain tto clean.) With a small kitchen, the Brita is kept in the refridgerator, but since I don't like cold water, I keep a large glass out on the counter to warm up. Lately I have taken to covering MY glass—she is not typically known for getting up on counters, but I finally realized she liked the taste of filtered water! I did try a drop in their water but that didn't go over too well, probably too concentrated to start. Personally think she might like the slight taste of the iodine. > > > > I don't know thta I would do that as cats especially are VERY picky > > about the taste of their water and will dehydrate if they do not liek > it. > > http://products.mercola.com/Images/whole-foods-multivitamin/label-facts.jpg > > -- > > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > > > >
Guest guest
This is a way to start with 1/4 to 1/2 drop. It was from another group. ~ > > > > > > I don't know thta I would do that as cats especially are VERY picky > > > about the taste of their water and will dehydrate if they do not > liek > > it. > > > > > > -- > > > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
, This is a great idea. Some people actually use Clorox bleach for this purpose. I remember reading somewhere that you can use a drop or two in water to clean fruits and vegetables.Best, SylviaSylvia Pisarski Onusic, MS, PhDNutrition and Lifestyle Coach Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
