Yes I did catch those. The 12 were ON TOP of the last few that were labeled

Autism & Vaccines. There were about 5 or 6 that did apply and were not in

my count. Just change the subject please.

if it's a beneficial discussion to some of the people here then what is the

harm? Let it go....hit the delete button and start talking about iodine,

there can be two discussions going on at the same time.

Didn't you hear the recent post? We all think everything has a link to

autism. (Nothing is off limits because of this : )

Especially since many of the traits of autism can be duplicated in

hypothyroidism (or at least I think they can, I've never actually seen an

autisitic child.) Anyway, this is one related fact -

http://www.eas.asu.edu/~autism/Research/Completed.html

Iodine: Children with autism have low levels of iodine (needed for proper

thyroid functioning and to prevent mental retardation). Iodine deficiency is

the most common worldwide cause of mental retardation.

http://www.autismwebsite.com/ari/dan/adams1.htm

Iodine: For the children with ASD, the mean level of iodine was much lower

(45%) than for the control children, and the difference was highly

statistically significant (p=0.005). When the subgroup of age 3-6 years was

considered, the magnitude of the difference was almost identical (47%),

although the difference was not statistically significant due to the smaller

number of children in the subgroup. This suggests that iodine could be an

important factor in the early development of autism, presumably through its

effect on thyroid function.

********************************************

This could be why in some cases thyroid medication appears to " cure " many

symptoms of autism.
