I know you were joking but I wouldn't take any off the web without

permission But another question. I had surgery w/ a different

doctor, but Dr. Kuri did one of the fills. Do you want my picture

even though he didn't do the surgery?

> First off I want to thank everyone who has sent me their photo's so

far. Below is a list of all that I have (if you sent them and they

are not on the list then I haven't received them... Please resend)

> Secondly, I NEED MORE... Please don't think that you haven't lost

enough or aren't far enough along... I have newbies in here that are

only down a few pounds (they just sent their " before " pics) as well

as us slower losers in the bunch (including myself). Every pound is a

victory...

voluntarily I am going to have to resort to swiping them off the web

times call for desperate measures.... LOL

appreciate it... please be a part of this for him.

The web is public domain and I am only half joking...

If you consider yourself a fill patient of Dr. Kuri then please send

me your photo & stats (remind me that you are a fill patient please)

Thanks,

You need to be careful. There was a big blowout about someone stealing

photos and I would be truly pissed off if you took my photos without my

permission and used them. But thankfully for me, this is not for my surgeon

and the risk of that is low.

But see you just made a point for people not sharing their journey when they

might have otherwise. This is supposed to be someplace for us to feel

comfortable sharing our lives. You might want to rethink your position.

Actually, the web is NOT public domain. All " creative works " ,

including writing (even this email message), photos, and so forth are

" copyrighted in the act of creation " . The grocery list you scribble

on a notepad is copyrighted. Of course no one is likely to want to

copy it.

Personally, I'd NOT reuse any web photos without permission. Yes, the

person who put them up made them available to the public, or at least

a " limited audience " of those who are members of a given board. But

that doesn't mean they've given rights of reproduction, particularly

if that reproduction is for profit (which I know is not the case

here).

Not long ago one doctor's website had " before and after photos " of

several people that were NOT his/her patients. Needless to say when

these people learned that their pictures were being used that way, AND

for commercial purposes for a different doctor, they raised hell.

Anyway, I'm not a lawyer, but as a librarian and information

technology person I deal with copyright issues and decisions every

day.

cheers

I am really not going to get into an argument. The present isn't some

public display. It is for Dr. Kuri and if people are willing to post

their pictures on a public message board to " share " do you really

think they are going to have a problem " sharing " with the man who did

their surgery?

yes the web is public domain but photos posted within this list are not public. I am sure Dan has set it up so they are viewable only to members of this list therefore not public domain. I would be very careful about mining photos not on a public website and without the owners permission.

Becca, no one is talking about " stealing photos. " Once again, your

paranoia is showing. I'm glad you've joined us on our new site, but

please leave the attitude on the " other place " . is using only

photos that people have sent her, and photos that people have already

agreed to share on Dr. Kuri's site. WE are all proud of our success,

and planning this collage as a present for the physician who made it

possible. You're far too quick, IMO, to make erroneous assumptions -=

and you know what I mean by that. Sandy R

No, I don't want an argument either, , and didn't mean to sound

like I did. Sorry if that was how it came across. I just wanted to

make sure that we all know what the laws and regulations are. Of

course I break plenty all the time myself.... Sometimes when I do, my

band bites me. Sometimes when I go a bit too fast in the Corvette, a

cop might bite me. But I know the rules, and if I break them, well I

know the consequences.

As to whether some people would have a problem, my guess would be yes,

but I have no idea. I've learned that almost anything I do in life

will piss off SOMEONE...same as with anything I don't do. Guess

that's how life is.

Good luck with your project...I think it is a neat idea, and I'm sure

Dr. Kuri will appreciate whatever you create.

//I've learned that almost anything I do in lifewill piss off SOMEONE...same as with anything I don't do.//

Gosh... isn't this right on. However, I was told long ago in some

therapy session somewhere....

"If you go through the day and don't piss someone off, then you're

not doing it right!"

An interesting enough statement but what I take it to mean is that

if your always so compliant with everyone else then you're not

taking care of yourself.

Being newly banded there are attitudes that are raising their

ugly head. The attitude that I don't have to do what everyone

else wants. That I can actually do what I want. Since I'm not

stuffing myself with food and cramming all my emotions down inside

it has to be released somewhere. :)

That's my take on this subject.

Take care everyone,

Mona

Sandy, the person wrote that she would be taking photos off the

websites if people didn't volunteer them. I'd certainly call

that " stealing pictures " .

Who won't be submitting any photos just because of the way it was

described.

Was this really necessary? I haven't been around that long and have

no idea what you mean but you have me wondering about Becca's

stability. That's pretty unfair to her and to those of us who don't

know what you are talking about and are left to guess. Sandy I

appreciate your experience and the time you spend on these boards to

help new people but it frankly is these comments that keep getting

you in hot water. Put the claws back in, please?

, she meant DR KURI's WEBSITE!!! This was made very clear in Dr.

Kuri's online group, but those in other places didn't understand

that. sorry it came across wrong. Sandy R
