Hello ,

***First question - is there anything I can take which is a gentleremedy - I am already taking s homeopathic remedy for candida.

Yes, there is - the most effective way of dealing with Candida is rule number # 1 ... cut out radically ALL refined sugars in any shape, size or form from your diet. This means chocolates, soft drinks (even the ones with artificial sweetener), all alcohol, jams, honey, dried fruit (!!). ice creams, cakes, ketchup, fried food, take-always etc, and reduce all grains to an absolute minimum (bread, pasta, white rice etc), even reduce fresh fruit to a minimum for a few weeks - with the exception of Grapefruit and lemons, leave out citrus fruit (acid feeds the yeast) and the sweeter varieties of fruit (grapes, peaches, bananas etc) totally. Apples are ok in moderation.

Rule # 2... introduce lots of fresh garlic and cold pressed virgin olive oil into your diet - in fact, rather than listing everything, have a look at this website...

http://www.annboroch.com/candida.htm

Rule # 3 ... take a good quality Acidophilus daily.

Rule # 4 ... drink plenty of plain water - at least 8 glasses per day.

There are a number of good Candida killing drugs on the market - I find the most effective is Fluconazole, but it is harsh on the liver. Still, when you are desperate, as I am, a capsule of Diflucan (over the counter) is very effective. Dr. P. recommends taking one of those every week for 3 consecutive weeks. - You are lucky, as your Candida count is not terribly high, so you should be able to get rid of it with a bit of effort and iron will on the food front and perhaps you may not have to resort to Fluconazole - but it does speed up the process of killing the yeast. - My own TgAA count was >150 ..... and I am really struggling and it'll take me a life time to get rid of mine.

But you asked for gentle remedies... One that I am taking and it *is* good, is 'ThreeLac' (it's a Candida killing Acidophilus)... but it is very expensive if you have to take it for a long time - it's just about affordable for maintenance purposes. You can buy it on line, but you won't find it any cheaper than just over £ 30 per packet, which contains 60 sachets (if you do find it cheaper somewhere, please let me know). I take 2 sachets per day and have done so for years - you may not need very much of it, since your TgAA's are not terribly high. You *may* get away with just one per day *if* you keep strictly to a sugarfree diet for at least 6-8 weeks.

Good luck,

Hi ,

I hardly eat anything on your list. I drink lots of water and mainly

eat organic salad, chicken, eggs, porrige, yougurt - but I do like

fruit. I drink a glass of orange juice in the morning and have grapes

or pears or bananas at work.

Another question - you said to cut out all refined sugars.......is

unrefined sugar out as well. I put organic unrefined sugar in my tea.

I used to drink 4 cups a day but to cut down the sugar, I cut down the

number of cups to two.

I have decided to take - as well as the s homeopathic remedy -

something called Candiclear as well as olive leaf and a probiotic.

Hi there,

Re candida - yes I can offer a remedy - your problems are most

probably caused by vitamin B deficiency which is allowing your gut to

be susceptible to this type of organism - take a good quality vitamin

B complex and you should be OK - it will allow the gut flora to return

to normal as the B protects the mucosal lining of the gut. I can

recommend a good Vit B complex product if you wish.

Also remember that hormonal changes and imbalances cause this problem

too but the B will help to rectify this as well. Also take a good

quality multi vitamin to cover the rest of recommendations in the

article below. Also be careful with the live yoghurt as although it

won't harm you if you have a lactose intolerance - as most of us do -

you will get a bloated tummy and possibly upset your gut - just one a

day wll be enough and if you become uncomfortable with loose motions -

leave it alone - it isn't for you.

Ignore the acidophhilus tablets recommended as I found with an auto

immune problem it gave me a urinary infection.......also vitamin E

will help but you need to watch your blood pressure as it is a natural

blood thinner - so just get your E in a good well balanced multi -

once again I can recommend one. Nothing else is needed just good

intake of vitamins and minerals to allow the body to heal itself and

become re-balanced.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Mandy

" Nutrition

Eat natural, plain yogurt containing live cultures several times a

day. The live cultures in yogurt fight candida yeast infection in the

intestine, making it easier for the immune system to overcome candida

infections elsewhere in the body. At breakfast, eat a Swiss-style

muesli made with soaked rolled oats, strawberries or currants and

plain yogurt to provide silica, lactic acid bacteria and B complex

vitamins, which increase the body's resistance to *fungal infections.

The vitamin C in fruit will help fight infection. Eat plenty of

enzyme-rich, fresh green vegetables for B vitamins and vitamin C.

Nutritional Supplements

If the natural bacterial flora is weak, yeast organisms can more

easily invade the body. For all yeast infections, add acidophilus

capsules to the diet both during, and for several weeks or more

following, the infection. The B vitamins are often lacking if the

intestinal flora is upset. A lack of B vitamins allows yeast

infections to occur more easily. Vitamins A and E are essential for

healthy mucous membranes. Vitamin E is particularly useful for

regulating many hormonal imbalances that contribute to the yeast

infection. During any infection, take vitamin C regularly to increase

resistance. All supplements should be taken both during, and several

weeks after the infection to support the body's ability to fend off

the candida and prevent reinfection.

Hi Dawn,

Yes is the short answer ;o)

In my own experience the Canesten pill is as good as the Diflucan. I

now buy one or the other (you can get the Canesten also without the

creme if the creme is not required). I have tried some of the generic

forms of fluconazole (Boots own and Lloyds own and others). In my

opinion the Diflucan and the Canesten work best (my tongue being one of

the indicators for judging - with both of those I get a nice clean,

pink tongue, but not with any of the others).

Good Luck

Good for you - and that would explain why your Candida is not as bad as mine in the first place

Your diet sounds excellent !! If you could substitute orange juice for freshly pressed grapefruit juice and the grapes and bananas for fresh (or defrosted - summer fruits from Tescos defrost well) red berries and apples, that would be perfect.

***Another question - you said to cut out all refined sugars.......isunrefined sugar out as well. I put organic unrefined sugar in my tea.I used to drink 4 cups a day but to cut down the sugar, I cut down thenumber of cups to two.Unfortunately yes, ALL sugars, refined or unrefined, should be avoided, only that is easier said than done. Sugar is absolutely everywhere. You can't avoid them all, however hard you try. But complex sugars are not going straight into the blood stream, so are less of an evil. - You can substitute the organic unrefined sugar with Xylitol, which for some reason does not feed the yeast, and is allowed for candida sufferers.

http://en.wikipedia.org:80/wiki/Xylitol

I don't know Candiclear and whether it helps or not, but olive leaf and a good probiotic are the right way to go. Biocare does a very good acidophilus probiotic. Beware of lesser ones, as most of the good bacteria gets destroyed by the stomach acids before they reach the gut. The better products are generally speaking the ones that need to be kept in the fridge, but there are some that don't need refrigeration. It's worth doing your homework. You want a product that reaches the gut relatively unscathed.

Thanks Auto (sorry I forgot your name when I hit reply Duh lol)

The cream will always come in handy and it seems quite cheap for the

pair. Got some B vit drops on order. Only thing that worries me about

them is that there is a hefty dose of B12 in it really I don't think I

should be taking that much B12 EVERY day. What do you think girls and

guys?

lotsa luv
