One common reason for low thyroid function is low iodine, and if that's your problems it'll be corrected. Even if not, it might still be helpful to you, but you could still need thyroid meds. Guest guest
The TSH does look more hyper than hypo. What symptoms are you having & were you tested for thyroid antibodies to see if you have Hashimoto's? > > Hi everyone > > With the below results how much lugol's would you suggest taking if to take any at all. I am thinking lugols as this is something I can get my hands on without a script as here in NZ our results say I am hyper but people from various forums have said I am hypo. So do you have any iodine suggestions for me. > > Our range for free t4 is (10 - 23.0) > tsh is (.30-5.00) > t3 is (2.8-6.8) > > My results over time are > 28 Nov 03 tsh .87 > 23 Sep 04 free t4 16.5 tsh 1.1 free t3 4.6 > 15 Oct 04 free t4 13.1 > 11 Apr 05 tsh .47 > 08 Dec 05 free t4 12.5 tsh 0.14 free t3 4.0 > 16 Oct 06 free t4 14.5 tsh 0.75 free t3 4.7 > > Thanks everyone for you help > > Margo >
Guest guest
Hi I have hyper symptoms in the morning and hypo in the afternoon. Most of the day I am cold even when it is warm. In the afternoon (most days)I get even colder and drop off to sleep for a nana nap. My temp is a little on the low side when I take it and even lower in the afternoon. I have tested positived for microsomal antibodies 1:400 range here is (<1:100) and negative for thyroglobulin antibodies. I am not currently taking anything for my thyroid. Have tried HC for adrenal fatigue but that made me worse. Thanks Margo > > > > Hi everyone > > > > With the below results how much lugol's would you suggest taking > if to take any at all. Guest guest
Hi Margo, you have Hashimoto's, with the antibodies. With that, you can jump around from feeling hyper to feeling hypo. Try the Lugol's and see how it helps you. A conservative dosing regime might be to start with 2 drops & increase by 2 drops every 5 days. Assess how you feel as you go along and see if you have any side effects. Sometimes iodine can detox mercury, bromine, chloride & fluoride. You might get pimples, itching or hives if that's the case. If you get those, or any other side effects, back down to a lower dose & see how you fee. After being at that level for a few months, maybe you could try decreasing down to 1 or 2 drops/day or even alternating days & see how you feel. What happened when you took the HC? How did that make you feel worse? How much did you take? How did you dose it? What brand did you use? Sometimes the kind, amount & dosing schedule of what you take can be the problem, not necessarily the HC. Have you had your ferritin (storage iron) levels checked? That's different that your serum (blood) iron levels. Low ferritin can make you feel bad when you're hypo too. Most people feel better when their ferritin is in the 70-90 range. Hopefully someone with Hashi's will have some more ideas for you. I don't have it - just regular hypo. > > > Hi everyone > > > > > > With the below results how much lugol's would you suggest taking if to take any at all. I am thinking lugols as this is something I can get my hands on without a script as here in NZ our results say I am hyper ut people from various forums have said I am hypo. So do you have any iodine suggestions for me. > > > > > > Our range for free t4 is (10 - 23.0) > > > tsh is (.30-5.00) > > > t3 is (2.8-6.8) > > > > > > My results over time are > > > 28 Nov 03 tsh .87 > > > 23 Sep 04 free t4 16.5 tsh 1.1 free t3 4.6 > > > 15 Oct 04 free t4 13.1 > > > 11 Apr 05 tsh .47 > > > 08 Dec 05 free t4 12.5 tsh 0.14 free t3 4.0 > > > 16 Oct 06 free t4 14.5 tsh 0.75 free t3 4.7 > > > > > > Thanks everyone for you help Margo
Guest guest
Hi I took an NZ distributed HC can't tell you what brand as it doesn't say, just the distributor. Anyway they were 5mg tablets to be taken as follows: 2 tabs in the morning 2 tabs at lunchtime and 1 tab between 5 & 6pm. To be taken 1/2 an hour before food. While I was taking them I was just my usual in the morning but when about 2pm came round (usual nap time for me) I needed match sticks to hold my eyes open. I do remember I was not as chilled while on them but and I was not as itchy but that was about it really. I took them for 7 days and stopped. I tried them again at a later date and the same thing happened. Iron test were last taken 10 April 06 Serum Iron umol/L 13 range (10-30) serum TIBC umol/L 56 range (45-80) % saturation % 23 range (16-50) ferritin ug/L 58 range (20-200) I did question my doc about the iron being within range but on the low side but she thought it was ok. I have noticed over the last couple of days that I have still had hyper symptoms in the morning and geeling not too bad in the afternoon. Have not needed a nap for a couple of days. I am not taking anything so not sure if things will go down hill soon. I have an appointment this Friday so if you can suggest any test I should have that would be much apperciated. Also with Hashimoto's is it normal to change from hyper to hypo in the one day, sometimes at night after feeling hypo I start to feel hyper again. I am going to have a job in getting the doc to understand that I am hypo not hyper and I can understand that as they can only go by or blood tests. Thanks again Margo > > > > Hi everyone > > > > > > > > With the below results how much lugol's would you suggest > taking if to take any at all. Guest guest
Did you build up slowly, over a 3 week span, to the 25mg/day of HC or just start taking it as the label lists? Because you shouldn't start taking it all at once. You need to give your body time to adjust. There's dosing info here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/how-to-treat http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ AFA your iron, I would say you might benefit from taking some. Your ferritin's not really low, but most people seem to do better in the 70-90 range. That, coupled with the low serum iron reading, makes me think that a little extra might give you some extra oompf. Here's some more info on that: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ Missy on the ferritin board knows a lot about it. You could ask her for more info: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/community/viewforum.php? f=4 & sid=fc0fa2fb9178646fd21cc20ce7afc941 Are you on any Armour or other thyroid hormone? Have you had any testing for your adrenals/cortisol levels, either blood or 4x/day saliva testing? I'm wondering where you might stand with adrenal fatigue. > > Hi > > I took an NZ distributed HC can't tell you what brand as it doesn't say, just the distributor. Guest guest
Hi Just did what the doctor ordered as per label. Will look at the website though. Back in 2004 this is the following results for cortisol (24hr urine collection for this one): Serum Cortisol Cortisol 258 nmol/L ref range 0700-0900 hours 118 - 618 nmol/L Urine Cortisol Urine volume 840ml over 24 hrs concentration excretion this period range urine cortisol 203 nmol/L 171 nmol 100-400 creatinine 14.7mmol/L 12.3 mmol/day 7.0-12.5 a note says : Normal excretion for femal is 0.10-.018 mmol/kg/24hrs Hope all that make sense. Also I am not taking any thyroid meds and never have. Thanks Margo > > > > Hi > > > > I took an NZ distributed HC can't tell you what brand as it > doesn't say, just the distributor. Guest guest
That test for lupus gives a false positive when you have Hashimoto's. That's why you were checked for lupus. So I would say no lupus or hashimoto's. --- free2ridejones <springs@...> wrote: > Oh boy.
