Guest guest
Thanks! I tried one this am, put frozen raspberries, pineapple juice, some ice and a banana. It turned out pretty good. Could be a little sweeter. Got some frozen cherries as well. Will try that too~ Thanks for the tips! >From: " Diane Chase " <dianebarbara@...> >Reply-onelist ><onelist> >Subject: smoothie >Date: Wed, 3 Nov 1999 10:57:53 -0800 > >snip<<<<<<<<<<Could I get some recipes for smoothies w/in the 0 diet? Guest guest
Smoothie Mix: Fill the blender 1/2 - 3/4 full with your favorite fresh or frozen fruit and add the following nutrients. (Trader Joe's has a great selection & less expensive too) 1 to 2 tsps of Green Phyto Powder 1 tsp of Spirulina Powder Give it a good squirt of Hydra-Cell 3 scoops of organic non flavored Yogurt (optional) 1 tbl flax seed meal or Flax Seed Oil (optional) Now add slowly to almost the top your favorite less acidic organic juice. I have found one here in California in Trader Joes' (Rasberry Peach Blossom) with zero vitamin A & zero Iron. *I am now using Rice-Dream's Rice Milk instead of juice = less sugar and you can use Soy-milk also if you'd like! YUM! Turn up to high for a few seconds and your done. Yummy! *You can drink 1/2 your smoothie now - and put it in the frig. for later. Its'a wonderful pick me up alone or along with your meals and its loaded with all kinds of nutrients including safe Protein, Amino Acids, Vitamin & Minerals. ===== (`'·.¸(`'·.¸ ¸.·'´) ¸.·'´) «´¨ Love, ** ¨`» (¸.·'´(¸.·'´ `'·.¸)`' ·.¸) ¸.·´ ( `·.¸ `·.¸ ) ¸.·)´ (.·´ `*. *. Guest guest
Hi All I have a wonderful Vita Mix blender. I have not been using it because I have been thinking OH NO liquid calories. Do you think having a veggie blend or fruit blend every now and then would be OK? The nutritional value is awsome. It's mainly fruit and veggies no creams or fats. Thoughts? Guest guest
one of the basic band rules is to avoid liquid calories. more about the many reasons why in the files - see the document called " Why avoid liquid calories " But anything 'every now and then' is ok, imo. I like an occasional V8 for that reason. But all that " awesome " nutrition is also in the real fruits and veggies, too. :-) Be a bit careful of fruit juice, though - it is really nothing more than sugar water. sandy r > > Hi All > > I have a wonderful Vita Mix blender. Guest guest
I am with Joyce on the veggie smoothies- I make one a few times a week and they are nourishing and filling. I enjoy them and I feel extremely content after one and usually do not eat for 4 -5 hours later. I have used kale, broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, carrot (I go easy on the carrot bec of the high natural sugar content)- I might put in a piece of apple or a piece of peach- blueberries or strawberries and I usually use 4 ozs fresh skim milk - I am not into the juice again because of the sugar content and I love milk anyway- but basically I experiment and play and had one bad one in my entire run (too much kale and it was bitter) - most of them are awesome. I sometimes use a small amount of greek plain non fat yogurt- they are all awesome! My next experiment is a chilled melon soup. I am going to attempt that this week. Guest guest
<<Today I made a really good smoothie with pineapple, ice and one packet of Acai Berry Emergen C that came in the mail as a free sample. It was SO good, and SO tropical, that I added a splash of rum. <g>Teri>> Now that's my kind of smoothie!!!!! ~Heidi Heidi AhlbaumLittle Ones Signing: promoting communication and bondingAdvanced Signing Time!
